Inadequate would be the best word to use here.

Too many details are omitted and the explanations (if any) are at times unclear. As a result you are left trying to just remember it all rather than understand it, which often leads to.....why bother learning it?

Another thing I have to say is that you could understand everything in this book, but still score badly on a physics exam because in the sections of an exam paper that ask you to EXPLAIN, or SUGGEST A REASON FOR or DESCRIBE, this book would be totally useless at preparing you for them. Why? Because examiners are looking for certain phrases or technical words which you may never have thought to include in your answer - and this book doesn't teach you when to use them!

Interestingly, upon reading examiners reports for candidates answers, they all seem to say the same thing - candidates waffle on about things that are irrelevant to the question, or candidates fail to recognise the points which need to be made.

Bad points aside, its just a revision guide, and it probably assumes the reader has already undergone intense study of the subject. It has some pictures to aid and there are a few insufficient small exercises - however, a revision guide should be at least prepared to ready someone for the exam board they advertise on the front!

I was struggling with mechanics at the start of the course, but after purchasing this book and reading through it it all made sense.
Taught me more than my teacher could have!

Great buy!
Amazing help for anyone struggling with AS Physics!

this is a great book for revising 1-2 days before the exam.. you wont need to make flash cards or anything cuz this book has the content to know laid out in a concise way so that reviewing is made easier!

obviously you wont find the content in detail cuz its a revision guide. its good for revision purposes only . it also has answers at the back for the questions it asks at end of each topic. there are also thinking tasks provided for applying the concept to real world situation to help you build your application of physics skills. this is important cuz the exam has questions where you are given real world situations and you are expected to apply your concepts of physics to it.

definitely a great buy! recommended for all those who do not have time to make cards etc and all who need to just revise the main concepts prior to the exam!

price is worth it! :)

Personally, I achieved A* marks on all of the examined Physics units using this book as my main source of information, coupled with Advanced Physics (Advanced Science) (2 Nov 2000) - Steve Adams and Jonathan Allday for gaining greater clarity in some areas. Advanced Physics is truly an exception textbook, however this short, brief revision guide is truly useful for revising. It isn't too brief or too simplistic, and several users have suggested that it won't get you a good mark because examiners look for buzz words. Well, this book will highlight any areas which you're unclear on, the internet, textbooks like Advanced Physics, and teachers are all sources to gain clarity in those areas. Past exam papers will, again, highlight areas you're unclear on but more importantly, tell you what the examiner wants to be included in questions which fall under certain topics through mark schemes.

I didn't want to buy CGP books as they seem quite babyish to me so i decided to go for this one instead and im incredibly happy. Delivery was great, and the book itself has all the information required as its direct from the exam board.

This book should be recommended by all AS Physics course teachers as it was by mine. The most popular choice of revision guide by my peers and sometimes a whole lot more helpful than my teacher was at explaining what might be one of the most difficult courses conceptually to grasp at AS level.

The product itself has a nice quality and feel to it (not that this makes it any more fun) and the information inside is explained in a straight-to-the-point yet digestible manner.

As the title of this review suggests this book is more of a necessity if you are taking AS Physics and you are hindering yourself and your learning of this course if you pass up the opportunity to buy this guide.

Oh and good luck with your exams.

This book is a good layout.

It gives you good tips for exams, things to watch out on incase of making silly mistakes which I am a person who does it all the time. Good information, Definitely covers the syllabus.

However the book misses out a lot of key points and doesn't show tricky examples and isn't all that clear.

I would recommend the CGP revision book of this course as its clear and explains methods etc. very very clearly.

Just as required. This revision guide recommended by tutors because of excellent definitions of A level terminology. Just into AS course - already valuable.
