The filter traps dust and needs to be cleaned regularly (every 2 weeks) to keep the dehumidifier dust free. Clean by gently brushing or use a vacuum cleaner.

Whilst the the DD1 Simple lightweight at 6 kg, it is equipped with a collapsible carry handle to make portability more manageable.
The DD1 Simple has a 2 litre tank capacity, positioned at the side of the dehumidifier like a drawer.
There is no need to move the dehumidifier when removing the tank to empty. There is a lid covering the tank to avoid spillage and a carry handle for ease of carrying.
Continuous Hose (optional)
You can use the hose provided (one metre length of 12 mm diameter) to drain the water directly to a drain or sink to save emptying the tank regularly.

After checking that I could, I've attached the unit to a low cost digital power timer plug and we have it running on the ECO medium setting each day for three hours. Our washing dries twice as fast as it used to, meaning that it can all be done in less time with less fuss.
I highly recommend cleaning the filter as often as you can manage, as I've read that a lot of people have problems with it breaking down due to the desiccant stone filling up with dust and fluff and no longer working, we clean ours every couple of days.
All in all we've found it to be a very simple, easy and effective piece of equipment requiring only a couple of minutes attention every few days. We've never owned a dehumidifier before, so we have nothing to compare it to.
The only downside or improvement we could find was that it doesn't allow you to pour the water reservoir without pulling up the lid, which seems clunky to us.
All in all if you can find better then buy it, if not, buy this.
I had this one in the office for a while and just could not get on with it. You see there is an electric heater within it - or a heating element at the very least - and it will take awhile for the off gassing of chemicals from the element wire to eventually evaporate. I was particularly sensitive to this smell and could only tolerate it on low setting. If I put it on the high setting and left the office and then came back after a while it literally stunk to high heaven. It worked yes but it stank! even on low it was noticeable. I could smell it all the time . my wife wasn't so sensitive ot the smell and could only smell it when entering the office after a long absence.
I then demoted it to the basement where it quite happily did it's job fairly efficiently. But it has take a good while for it to stop smelling so bad - and it still gives off a odour even now. I went with a standard compressor type for the office then as I have never had a odour issue with that kind ever and sure enough didn't with the replacement either.
So yes it works - works well but it stinks - bear that in mind if you're going to have it in say a young child's room or a communal living area - for this reason I can only give it 4 stars.

well after just 14 months or so of use it's stopped working!Read more ›
It can bring humidity in an average sized room from about 60% to 45% in a couple of hours on the low setting, without being too loud... I don't think it can bring it less than 40% or how much time it would take, but something between 40-45% is enough...
The "high" setting is even more powerful but quite loud.
Be advised that these types of appliances are very energy consuming and you'll definitely notice on your electricity bill. The story is that it helps keep your heating costs down because dry air is easier to warm up, but overall you will be consuming significantly more. After 3 months of using this my electricity bill went up the roof so now I'm using it only a couple of hours per day before going in bed...
I was a little concerned by reading a number of reviews from users complaining that it broke down. Given that the manufacturer offers now 2 years of guarantee I only hope that it will not be the case anymore...
