"Eating the Alphabet" by Lois Ehlert is great book for kids who will use it have their first introduction with the letters.

On each page, its author presents one of the letters, using vividly colored illustrations of fruits and vegetables whose names start with this letter.

I would say that book could be recommended for kids who are 2 or more years old. And as great add-on, besides its primary use teaching letters it's also great as book that will help parents in teaching their children which healthy food she/he would be good to eat.

The reader is encouraged to research with her/his kid even more with the reference page on the back side on the book that are giving additional information about presented fruits and vegetables.

The book will easily capture kid's attention due to the illustrations that are made with no frills, in most natural and realistic manner that teach kid accurate picture how fruit and vegetable look like. Two main art techniques were used, collage and water color, sometimes alone and sometimes in combination.

And finally, each and every word is written both in capital and lower case letters for kid to see the difference.

All of abovementioned things make "Eating the Alphabet" one of the most recommended books for each kid, whether you are looking for a book with which you will teach your child the letters or as a gift to special someone who has a small child who loves picture books.

Once again Lois Ehlert has created a clever and visually appealing book for children. The deceptively simple collage illustrations convince young children that they should experiment with collage themselves. My toddlers had great fun matching the illustrations to real fruit at the grocers. Delightful!

This is brilliant beautiful book that the children (2 and 4) love and is a very useful positive and fun part of our making fruit and veg fun and exciting not just about eating (though that's the long term goal). Its an interesting accessible book.

however all this has been overshadowed by the absolutely horrendous state the book was in. Every page stick and dirty, some torn, six inch tear on dust cover. (binned) so we only use this book in the garden where life is a bit muckier generally. I didn't want it again any of their other toys or book! Luckily i got full refund no quibbles.

A really lovely book with beautiful illustrations. I am using it as part of a healthy eating topic with my class and they love recognising the food as well as discovering new exotic fruits and veg.

Very visual for the little ones. Used it in pre-school, for a healthy eating class and most of the children were very interested in the pictures.
