I'm really into the work of Dr Peter D'Adamo and his blood type diet. I'm an O Positive and have built up knowledge over a few years of what's right for my type, however, my husband and children are all B Positive, hence the purchase of this book. (I had to buy kits to find out their blood type, as GPs won't do it - we even offered to pay the GP. Kits now available on Amazon.)
The book is slim, light weight and perfect for carrying to the supermarket as a reference. My youngest child suffered with acute middle ear infection from a baby right through to start of High School and now I know why - chicken and sweetcorn! Chicken is now banned from our menu (you'll need to read the book, as chicken is not at all good for those with B blood group and Dr Adamo goes into more detail in this book and also in 'Eat Right for your Blood Type').
I started reading the Blood type diet in order to try to loose weight - and if I stick to it, the weight rolls off me. However, it is more that a weight loss book, it also 'supports' health. The idea is that there are foods which are highly benefical for our blood type, that is, they act like a medicine; there are foods which are neutral and these are simply a food and nourishment for us and there are foods which are not suited to our blood type, that is, they are like a poison to our bodies. Eat Right For Your Type covers all Blood Groups, however, if you want a reference book that is easy to carry around, which also contains info and examples, then this Blood Type specific book is great.

I had heard about this 'diet' before, and on reading the book was amazed at how my symptoms mirrored those for my blood type! It was easy to understand and set out foods that were beneficial, neutral and those to avoid. I followed the eating plan and cut out those things to avoid and after only a few weeks felt so much better. I have not however lost any weight, but since it was to gain better health I m happy with the results.

Having read Dr d,adamo book years ago, I thought this book eat right for blood type b would advise me more about my blood group with more recipes and menus. This book is just the chapter out of the old book word for word. Readers should be advised if you have the old book don't waste time and money on this book.

I bought this booklet to keep as a handy reference so that I wouldn't have to keep checking foods etc on the website. However, it doesn't have the same level of information that is on the internet, specifically, the foods that are relevant to B-blood secretor an non-secretor status.

This is important to me as, for example, if you look up tomatoes, the website says that tomatoes are neutral for non-secretors but must be avoided by secretors, whereas the book says that tomato must be avoided by B blood type.

And, for barley, the website says it is neutral for secretors and non-secretors, but the book says to avoid it.

This is a disappointment. Dr D'Adamo would be best advised to update his pricey little book.

Looks like I'm back to the internet and that this was a waste of £8.

Excellent diet. Explains to me why i grew up in a family of slim siblings wth a different blood group to me. We all ate the same caribbean/English diet but my blood group did not tolerate most food items being a B group

Well reasoned - if disproved - book that gives a pared-back synopsis of D'Adamo's hypothesis that our blood group dictates our ability to tolerate and benefit from specific foods. I say disproved because since buying the book, I discovered that the oldest blood group the author describes - type 'O', is in fact, not! And there are other glaring contraindications that, actually, blow his theory out of the water. Having no doubt made, millions form the sales, I think a true scientist would have sufficient funds and honour to revisit all his analyses and rework them. I believe there is much to commend his postulations, but a fresh look at the archaeological context in light of the most recent DNA analyses and evidence could lend not only innovation to his work, but also a greater degree of plausibility. And by the way, any diet as restrictive as this one will cause initial weight loss.

After buying 'Eat the right Diet' years ago I had put it away and forgotten about it. But, after feeling unwell recently I started to follow the correct diet for my blood group and within weeks felt amazing. This little addition is perfect for my handbag and extremely useful when I shop.
