Most pages have illustrations that fill around 2/3 of the page. The illustrations are bright and cheery, however they have the feel of the cut and paste. In other words, it felt as if the illustrator created a couple of backgrounds, then created the main characters in a couple of poses, add in a few eggs and icon sized choice, then cut and paste as needed.
All of the clue pages look exactly alike, except the clue number changes. There are two basic types of "guess again" pages, with slight color or wording variations within the types. The "correct answer" pages are unique to the clue. The "choice" pages had three choice icons with links that would take the reader to a guess again page or a correct answer page.
As far as the formatting is concerned, I had an issue as part of the poem was on one page and it finished on another. I tried on my PC to have a two page format, but that caused other issues. As the clue poem was with the repetitive clue number page , I think something could have been done to keep the entire poem on the same page.
Regarding the poetry, there was not a standard style or length. At times the rhythm was off. However, the clues were clear and simple without too easy.
The interactive portions worked well on my PC.
Out of these issues the only thing that really bothered me was the intro. I'm not found of characters talking directly to the reader. Other people may not find this an issue.
Hello boys and girls. I'm Bruno the friendly Dog and I have a very special friend I'd like you to meet - the Easter Bunny! We are happy to see you all today.
Even with these issues, I think a child would have fun with this book. I also think it would be fun for the child if a parent made more clues for the readers own Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt, after all the author does offer to send some.
"Just to say 'Thank You' for purchasing this book, I want to give you a gift ABSOLUTELY, 100% FREE! Fun Easter Egg Kit..."
I recommend this friendly fun interactive Easter book.
Having 3 choices at the end of each riddle makes it so much better - they aren't just guessing and getting upset when it's not right. If they do guess wrong, the characters have encouraging things to say so it isn't a big deal.
It's also fun to talk about less common objects to find in a garden, like a gazebo or a scarecrow.
They ask questions and want to learn about what they are and what they do - the book itself is fairly short, but solving the clues and then talking about garden objects makes it into a great activity.
He loves the rhymes and then when he finds the Easter Egg he's so excited!
I really appreciate the 3 choices for each and it means he doesn't get discouraged either.
The illustrations are great and the whole feel of the book is happy and positive.
It can be tricky to get him to sit still for a book, but if he gets to play detective he's instantly ready to read!
