A universally acclaimed Bridge book
My first book 'Easier Done than Said' has got heartening reviews from all over the world, from Bridge analysts as well as players. The book is simply a collection of deals, mostly from Indian tournaments, played brilliantly by amateurs as well as Experts. What is more, in almost all the hands, a simple theme leads to a brilliant play. I am sure you will enjoy the hands. I started with about 60 deals, and 42 appear in the book. The editing was quite strict. If the defenders had made silly mistakes in the early stages, the deal was dropped even if the later play was exquisite. Few hands that I had really liked got eliminated as a result. I am sure they will not remain unpublished forever. I also wish to point out one error here, for the benefit of amazon.com viewers. On page 26, in the last paragraph of the hand 'Unplanned squeeze', a comment says that the contract can be made even after a trump lead. In fact, it can't succeed after a trump lead. In the process of editing, the long analysis got omitted, but somehow, the statement got reversed. Sorry about that. I keep posting good hands at my website. Some of them are from local event in Mumbai, and India, and some others from the Okbridge online play. Do visit the site for more good bridge. Finally, I started with the motivation of demystifying brilliance at the Bridge table when I wrote 'Easier Done than Said'. If it achieves that objective to a certain degree, I will make a similar attempt at demystifying bidding, although such an effort would be inherently more difficult because of the numerous diverse bidding systems.
