This is an excellent primary source reference book that covers the period from the marriage of Ferdinand and Isabella in 1469 to Charles IV Declaration of war on France in 1793. Each document is thoroughly referenced and supplied with detailed contextual background by the Editor, Jon Cowans. There is an equal balance of Political and Social History, which gives the reader a fully rounded insight to the lives of the Spanish men and women during the periods of peace and turbulence.
