She once again caught the style of period perfectly, and with a very interesting and intriguing plot, some wonderful 'unconventional' characters and a wonderfully romantic story between the hero and heroine.
This was a lovely read! (And I have since read all her other historical romances and loved them all!)

The misunderstanding at the end was just plain irritating and if the H loved the h so much, then why did he wait so long before contacting the h.
The other thing that really irritated me was overuse of the word 'wolfish' by the author. It was painful!
The story had great potential and could have been so much better.
Fast-moving with every words counting to tell the story, the book is a tantalizing read from beginning to end. Marianne and Luke are strong characters and for a romance novel, the protagonists are actually written as if the book is literary fiction. I like my romance novels but as a rule, I really hate it when the hero/heroine seem not to make up their minds because of something silly. Well, Luke and Marianne are not like that. They know what they want and they go and get it. Hence, I cannot read fast enough. I want to know what's going to happen next.
With a little bit of suspense thrown in, "The Earl Next Door" is an engaging story from the moment Luke and Marianne met.
A great book to carry to the beach or to the woods when you are taking your summer holidays! Of course, it goes without saying that this is a great book to read at home too.
