Demon Records is proud to announce the first Saxon release in a new deal: a nine album vinyl box set, containing all of Saxon’s classic studio albums released between 1991 and 2009 (Solid Ball Of Rock, Forever Free, Dogs Of War, Unleash The Beast, Metalhead, Killing Ground, Lionheart, The Inner Sanctum, and Into The Labyrinth). The hand-numbered outer slipcase box features a specially-commissioned, beautiful brand new cover painting by Saxon’s artist-in-residence, the legendary Paul Gregory. All nine albums have previously only had extremely limited releases on vinyl in either Germany, Italy or the UK. We now present them on 180 gram vinyl, all with inner sleeves featuring all the lyrics.

On first glance this box set is quite impressive. The outer box is quite heavy, thick and features some absolutely stunning art work. This alone is worth the extra penny. To round it off each album comes with a fantastic feeling glossy sleeve with the lyric sheet holding the vinyl inside. Each record is 180-gram, heavy and the sound is as clear as day. I would go as far as to say I much prefer the sound of these records to the CD (which sound great).
If you're lucky enough (or quick enough) to order from Demons Music Groups store you can get a special edition copy that features a signed (by Biff) copy of the box set art work. A nice little edition, never mind the fact that each box is numbered. I personally received box number 248 and it was worth every penny.
If you plan on listening to Saxon's most underrated period the old fashioned way, just buy it. There is absolutely nothing to complain about here. The albums look, feel and sound fantastic. This is one happy fan.
Note: I bought my copy from Demon Music Groups store.
Kicking off with 1991's Solid Ball Of Rock (new and now current bassist Nibs Carter well settled), this set covers the 9 studio albums up to the end of the 00s. The band never stay still and always continue to grow and develop, the metal takes in all that Saxon are about, from rock'n'roll to the trad blistering metal that influenced the likes of Metallica, then in the 00s the nods back to both their punk tinged metal beginnings and the even earlier prog roots to add an extra dimension to the metal.
Each album, 180g in its own original sleeve with an innersleeve, is a lovely item, esp as the orig vinyl releases are now so scarce.
The only criticism is that the common European sleeve is used for Forever Free, not the alternate rare-as-rocking-horse-shit UK art.
The sound, artwork and package are all as good as the Saxon metal. Underrated, brilliant.
