I will warn anybody buying them though to make sure you Motherboards Bios is updated as mine didn't recognise the cards when I installed them, had to put my old card back in and update the Bios ( my board is a Gigabyte X79-UD3) and I am running an i7 3820@ 3.60GHZ, 16GB of DDR3 Ram
Once it was updated the card ran like a dream, very quite and and fans only come on when needed. There is also some software provide on the install CD so you can control the fans manually if needed.
Also note that this is a large card and takes up a lot of space so make sure you have the space to fit it and if you are going to go the SLI road make sure you have a SLI bridge as they don't supply one with that card which I did think was a bit cheap of them.
Clocked Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor at an average 100+ FPS on a mix of high and ultra settings, and on the in game benchmark it got a top FPS of 189 and the lowest was 87.
As any gamers out there will know Shadow of Mordor is a demanding game when it comes to GPU performance so I was pleasantly surprised by the FPS score
Overall a fantastic card and would recommend it. If you have the money buy two as in SLI you will have no issues running GTA V when it comes out on the 14th of this month or The Witcher 3 which is the reason I bought these cards.
If you're using Linux its worth making sure your NVIDIA drivers are up-to-date before installing a new card. Plenty of info on the web on how to do this. Certainly if you're going to be gaming then use the proprietary NVIDA drivers - performance (for games) matters over whether the whole system conforms to the open source ethos (in my opinion, anyway!)
Note this card requires dedicated power from the PC power supply. I think this is the norm for most modern high-power graphics (GPU) cards.
This is a big card which requires big power: If you're upgrading please check the wattage of your PC's power supply, The weedy 250W one I had will not cut it, spend the extra £50 or so, if you need to, on a decent power supply. I purchased an EVGA-branded 600W one at the same time which also came with the advantage of having dedicated cables (GPU power) for the graphics card. Alternatively the card is suppled with some adaptors (I think they're SATA power connector to GPU connector, although I didn't open the packet)
This is a fantastic graphics card, and will serve as a very worth while upgrade for not too much of a silly price.
Have had this card for 6 months and can tell this card can take a lot.
Slowly have increased the number of my screens from 3x24" to 3x32" which unfortunately resulted the need of replacing this card.
Initially have attempted to buy a second for SLI, however thanks to the poorly developed Titanfall ( which I'm primarily playing with ) does not work well with SLI.
However after returning the 2nd card and moving on to gtx980ti have tried to push the limits of this card.
Can take 7680x1440 on low details well around 40fps under titanfall or 4600x900 on high details on fix 60fps
This unfortunately wasn't enough for me, however this is not the fault of the card. It performs very well!
Have finished playing with COD:AW on single screen 2560x1440 resolution on fix 60fps, if you turn down MFAA.
Overall very good card, the only downside there is no backplate - however can live without it !
Only a minor comment on HDMI: keep it in mind this card only has a HDMI 1.2, will not support 4k@60hz on that port! ( but does on display port )
