The cooling on the graphics card is good but extra fans would be needed for long period of gaming for such games as Battlefield 3 or Farcry 3 I would recommend slot rear exhaust cooling fan as they can be but on the top and the bottom of the card to bring if from 70 c on ultra to 50 c,This would also increase its performance overall.
Works well with PCI-Express 2 (Which was my main concern when buying it) Also works well with my 350w psu which was my second concern that i would need a new psu,But it provided a sufficient power output to the card.
The card fit very well in my case which Isn't that big.
The packaging and shipping was great got it one day earlier then expected! The packaging was also great the graphics card was covered in a anti-static bad and then in a bubble wrap bag around the same size,The condition of the card was spotless covered in a thin sheet of plastic in parts to keep it shinning.
So far it has ran every game on ultra on over 50 fps.
I would recommend this card to anyone willing to spend the money on it,Well worth every penny no complaints so far.
If more information is needed you can comment on the review and I will be willing to help.
Hope this helps you decide to get it or not (Recommend you do).
Intel Core i3-3240 @ 3.4GHz (2 Cores, 4 Threads)
8GB DDR3-1600MHz RAM
1TB WD 7200RPM HDD
Firstly, BF3 became playable. On the Intel I was getting about 20fps on the lowest settings, on Ultra (including AA and AF) I get 60fps+ now.
Secondly, Minecraft. Yes this is a low requirement game but surprisingly I got a higher framerate using this card. This may have been down to the extra system resources available (the Intel had about 1.7GB of RAM reserved).
Thirdly, Premiere Pro. Being a CUDA enabled card, besides having to modify one file in the settings the video renders are about 2-3x faster now. Although it must be mentioned that you need to render in H.264 to be able to use the GPU.
To sum this all up, for a "budget" gaming/editing card this is ideal. The only thing it may struggle a little with will be Watch Dogs and BF4 (Still managed Very High with a good 40fps on the Beta). I got this a while ago, had zero issues plus the EVGA Precision is a very useful tool to manage temperatures. I got this card to 98C before it started stuttering on Furmarks Extreme HD test.
If you are looking for a card to get, I wouldn't say don't get this but the GTX 7xx series would be better as they are based off a new core which runs next-gen games better,
Playing Tomb Raider & Alan Wake I was averaging around 15fps on my old card and now I'm at 60fps (limited by my monitor - Dell U2412M) on very high settings. On "ultimate" setting, I'm still around 35-40fps, which is still very playable! Also ran Far Cry Blood Dragon on highest setting and it played smoothly...but didn't run Fraps so can't comment on fps.
Incidentely, I ran a systems check for running BF4 and my rig passes...not sure on what setting I would play it though and what fps I would average! I'm not intending on playing it as such, but everyone does quote that game as being very taxing on GPUs so thought I would check for anyone that's interested.
Bear in mind as others have already said - it's a beast of a card so make sure you have room. In my case (Antec 100) there's very little room between the end of the card and the HDDs - just about enough room to get the sata & power cable in...unless you have big hands!
Well - i didn't have to worry - i have my PC running silent fans & a decent 'Xtreme CPU cooler' plus dampened 'All quiet Psu'.
The noisiest part of my comp is a 'Gentle Typhoon AF' i use on the rear exhaust, and that's because i haven't set it up yet. The stock db is 28 at 1700rpm.
This card is a dream - when researching for a decent priced card one site said this card is the 'sweet spot' for GFX cards.... And i completely agree! The frame rates are around 60 for a new game - plenty for this price.... But chuck a game from a year ago like 'Grid 2' or similar & this card takes off! usually around 160fps or more. And when it is maxed out the card runs nice and cool...
One last thing - for the overclockers out there the software from EVGA called 'EVGA OC Scanner X' is very handy.
Also you will not have legacy problems playing games in windows 8 or 8.1 as AMD seem to have with their drivers at the moment
For the price vs performance 10 out of 10
The only thing that I would change is the cooling as when gaming the card heats up to 50-60 degrees of C, the fan speeds up and you can slightly hear it.
Make sure to hoover your PC case from dust once a month or two, so the card can get cool air easily and it'll be fine. I think most of the issues that people have is because the card is overheating in closed, not well cooled case.
The card performs on maximum settings in most of recent games, Borderlands the pre-sequel runs at 100 FPS in 1080p, the only game that I had to decrease the quality a bit was Shadow of Mordor.
