I also suggest getting the blemish stick, 100% Australian Tea Tree Oil + FREE Blemish Roll-on Stick with Tea Tree Oil. I carry the blemish stick in my purse and the minute I feel a zit coming, I will generously apply it to that area and in just about every instance, the zit does not fully form and goes away. I still use the oil each night since I think there is a higher concentration of tea tree oil in it compared to the stick. Well, the smell is definitely more intense. I found it easiest to just bad a cotton swab with the oil and apply it that way. It has also improved the look of my pores too, so its just a great thing for the skin in general!
I began by diluting the oil, following the advice of various web sites that it can cause problems when applied neat. However, another web site advised that low concentrations (below about 1%) are ineffective, and can actually encourage fungus to build resistance. In the end I took to applying a very small amount of undiluted oil carefully to the affected areas, and have suffered no obvious ill effects. Speaking for myself, I cannot see much difference between applying a tiny amount of undiluted product and a larger amount diluted.
The dropper built into the bottle is not very controllable, so I ended up using a dropper bottle with a rubber squeezer that enabled me to put fractions of a drop exactly where I wanted them - in this case, on the ends of the nails and on the surface. I wondered if product on the surface of the nail would soak in, but as there is nice pink growth appearing at the bottoms of the nails I think it must have done. My routine is to do this an hour before bed, and to wear flip-flops for the rest of the evening. Any less than an hour, and the turpentine-like pong upsets my wife!
UPDATE - after two months of using this product my nails look quite civilised again from a distance, and I hoped that it was just a matter of waiting for the rest of the damaged bits to grow out. I therefore decided not to take it with me on holiday, as the consequences of it leaking in my luggage would have been horrible. Mistake. Over two weeks, some infection has re-spread about half way down one of my big toenails, which will take a couple of months to grow out again at the current rate of progress. You clearly need to stick at it for a long, long time to get fully clear. Good thing it is a big bottle.
Comes in a proper glass bottle with dropper seal.
A few drops everyday in your bathing water will keep infections at bay.
Has a multitude of uses around the house.
Normally spend around £6 for a small 30ml so this is a bargain cos I literally use this for everything.
I use it on a cotton pad mixed with water for my face to prevent spots, use a tiny bit to massage my scalp and in a small spray bottle mixed with water for my feet to prevent fungal infection.
I'm fine with the smell as I'm used to it now it doesn't bother me but my husband when I walk into a room does the whole over dramatic ("what the hell have you got on your face its burning my eyes!") Thing.
But as I said, it works, its cheaper than I've found anywhere else, is quality oil and the smell doesn't bother me so ill continue to use it.
Was happy with the packaging too, normally when I order oils they just come in an envelope with slight bubble wrap but this was in a box, inside another box that I keep the oil in.
Will be ordering from this company again.
