I bought this so I could clone a replacement SSD for my laptop. It is very easy to use but there are a couple of issues:
Firstly, the SSD is secured with a small rubber grommet rather than the traditional screw. That makes things a tad loose unless you pack the SSD down with conductive tape. You do get 2 spare grommets.
Secondly, the supplied heat conductive tape is too thin to ensure adequate contact with the enclosure's heatsink. Fortunately, I had a kit of conductive tapes of varying thickness. Thus I was able to improve heat dissipation and keep the SSD securely in place.
Thirdly, the cover/heatsink are rather loose and can easily fall off. Again, this was partially resolved with the extra tape.
I have now installed my old laptop WDC SSD in this caddy and use it for (rapid) backups. However, I would be wary of using this in a more arduous or exposed situation. The SSD can still get rather hot in use - about 60 degC. Nothing too serious but something to keep an eye on.
If you are going to make daily use of a caddy on your travels, I would suggest spending a bit more for something of better quality.
