The system is so sensible and useful that I wanted to get stuck in to all my working drafts immediately (and I never feel that way about editing). I think it's because this book trains your brain as well as your pen, explaining how to move from the author to the editor mindset and then walking you through what to do when you get there.
It's the gift that keeps on giving. There are straightforward explanations of knotty grammar concepts and tips for using technology short cuts to speed up your editing. Beyond my fiction writing I had so many a-ha moments that I can apply to my writing in general, at work etc. that it makes this book incredibly good value for money. As I said in the title above, a masterclass.
The reader is guided through a series of editing techniques done in a set order. Only when each is complete can you move onto the next one. Yes, you have to be disciplined, but once you involve yourself in the RedPen way of doing things, everything becomes much easier, and the task of editing, is not so overwhelming.
I would say that if you already have a general editing process set-up then you may find useful elements within the book to add to your system.
It's biggest plus point is the clarity, especially for less experienced writers.
