Sound is good with built-in speaker, but better with supplied earphones. The equaliser is a little limited, but not too bad.
Music: I've got lots of ogg files, and they played perfectly.
E-books: the display of e-books is not as flexible as a Kindle, but there's lots more books available.
The manual hasn't translated very well into English, but really, you don't need the manual.
Since you have to put all the media files on this from your pc, you should be computer-literate, and operating this is very easy.
First thing I have to do, is buy a micro SD card (or maybe two or three), then I can put a lot more stuff on.
All-in-all, an excellent product, and extremely good value.
In hindsight I wish I'd splashed out a bit more for another decent ebook reader, this just gets in the way of enjoying a good book.
The list of issues I have with this reader is as follows (no particular order):
1. Battery life is very poor for an ebook reader (3 hours or so for me).
2. Auto switch off of screen is activated at 30 secs max. So needs to be set to manual switch off as otherwise it will switch off half way through a page.
3. Feels cheap and nasty.
4. Menu items are clunky and un-intuitive.
5. Does not open the last book you were reading automatically. But rather you have to navigate the poor menu system to select it.
6. The light on the screen is uneven.
7. The font is not particularly good and reading is not particularly easy on the eye.
My Ereader is hardy and has been knocked around so much already, but remains very strong. Very pleased with this plucky piece of equipment and I am practically married and addicted to it. Can actual marriage be this good?
It reads Epub, Mobi, PDF. I don't use mine for watching video content or listening to music but I'm glad it offers me those options too.
Thought at first that I wasn't getting a good deal, but now I wouldn't exchange it for a Kindle. No offence Amazon, I love you guys to death and for sentimental reasons I'm gonna buy a Kindle this Christmas. But I love me my Ereader :)
Unfortunately the first e-reader was defective in that the alignment of the charger slot, micro sd slot, and usb port were slightly out of line. This resulted in the loss of a micro sdhc card which was swallowed by the reader and rattled inside. I followed the returns policy and the staff at Monster Shop were very helpful by e-mail and quickly sent a replacement e-reader but not the lost microcard, even though I pursued it's return or replacement they studiously ignored this.
I had also asked about adding files as they seem to scatter into every folder in the main menu and they advised adding folders to match the main menu and the files for each type of media could be put into the new folders created. This solved the problem as if you enter the video folder in the main menu all your files will be in the video folder that you created.
The e-reader replacement was much better aligned and I found it much easier to use with the"new" folder system.
The e-reader recognises lots of book formats but epub and mobi seem the best. Pdf isn't as easy to follow and I found that it wouldn't enlarge text like the others. It is back lit unlike the kindle so although you can read at night without a light it does tire the eyes a little, in sunlight there is a little glare but the print is quite readable.
There is also a music folder which is broken into songs, artists, albums, etc and that works well, the player has 5 different equaliser settings for pop, jazz, classical etc and the sound from the player is adequate but mono, to get the full sterio effect you need earphones. You also need them to tune in the FM radio and you need to know the number of the station you require, I actually haven't found the radio very good until late at night.
The Video player plays all the formats mentioned in the description and in the main the picture quality is very good, I found that a tweak of the brightness makes the colour more acceptable.
The player also remembers where you were in the film if you have had to cut the viewing short.
All in all for its price I think that the e-reader is an acceptable piece of kit.
Which is annoying as the books I want are kindle format. good for a cheap alternative ebook. This ebook was Less money but price went up. Which was weird so if your gunna buy it, make it an impulse thing as it might go up in price in a week or two.
