Thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel continuing the series as written by the author. This book was enjoyable and graphically portrays an epic wartime aviation battle over foreign shores.

The battle scenes were immense and explores in greater depth the struggles faced by the men battling the enemy, political indecision and incarceration by the enemy.

The air war rages on at great pace and once again the author expertly captures a blistering pace of a book that leaves you wanting more at the turn of the last page!

The realism imparted by Mark Berent shines through again in this, the fourth in the Wings of War series. Excellently portraying ground operations and the usual fantastically detailed air side of the story, this installment did not disappoint and saw me getting the final book in the series ASAP!

I have read the others in the series and this is just as good, you get into the characters and feel as though they are real people doing real things. I gives you an insight into what life was like at that period in time.

The whole Mark Berent series has been excellent but the action scenes in this novel really are outstanding. They have you on the end of seat until the final bullets fly. You also like the characters - except for Shawn and Connert - and develop a genuine concern for what happens to them. The Hanoi prison chapters are particularly gut wrenching as you wonder whether Flak will survive. Similarly, the news about Susan is really upsetting. Court, Wolf and Toby continue to adhere to the warrior code - something we all probably wish we could do.

Definitely a cut above airport fodder. Exciting from the start. The author is a Vietnam veteran flyer and the descriptions have the ring of reality about them.

In short, if you are a fan of action novels and aircraft (Richard Hermann, Tom Clancey, early Dale Brown etc) then you will almost certainly enjoy this novel.

out of print but worth it used.

The entire series is just a great read, you feel for the guys on the frontline and as for McNamara and LB Johnson .. they killed more US Servicemen than the Viet Cong with their policies.
