Although I've bought dozens of marketing books I usually don't bother to write a review however Matthews comments have forced my hand.
I've been email marketing for many years and I know how hard it has become to even get noticed above all the rubbish we all get in our inboxes.
The problem is that most people see email marketing as a one off tactic, sending a few emails in the hope that a few may get a response, but that doesn't work anymore. Email marketing works when it is a thought out long term strategy. In fact it works brilliantly when this approach is taken. The problem is that takes time and expertise.
Ed, however, has managed to cram pretty well everything you need into one book so you can do it yourself. If you are worried about spam Ed shows you what you need to do to overcome that. He explains the ways to actually get your mail opened, then read.
Ed also shows you how to keep comminucating with your list without becoming a pest. Everything is backed up with examples and loads of resources. If you are looking at email marketing then this book will give you a really good understanding of what you should be doing to make it work

The book is a teaser for the author's courses - so you end up paying for his publicity. The content could probably have been set out in 25 pages. Recommendations made for software packages etc. seem to be on the basis that the author gets a kick-back from these too. All this damages the credibility of the author and the value of the book.

This is a book that shows its role within its author's strategy. It's clearly a "product" in an info-marketer's pyramid, and as such seems to be quickly written and to lack a better proofreading. It shows its age at some points - an inevitable risck when you recommend specific technical tools and vendors in a field that changes so quickly - and probably would be a more pleasant reading without the promotional millionnaire-making talk. Apart from that, it's not bad as an introduction to email marketing for small businesses and solo entrepreneurs. It has some good tips and provides an accceptable overall explanation of how and why it works.

I purchase this book after strong recommendation, if you got Ed Rivis website you can get this book for nothing just the postage fee. I am new to email marketing but this book is a great base to start a successful and profitable email marketing campaign. I using all the tips and idea from this for our online business Claude & Celeste that retail French skincare, we now collect emails, use auto responder very effectively. I do recommend that book and again it did cost the earth so it's a very good investment.

A large number of reviews for Ed Rivis' book appeared in the course of a week. Almost all were written by people who had never written any other review.

So you are expected to believe that out of all possible books, THE ONLY BOOK IN THE WORLD these readers felt worth reviewing, was Ed Rivis' marketing work.

(At the time the book was marked 'not available' on site, so I wonder how all these readers were able actually to read it?)

All reviews were written between Monday and Friday, i.e., during the working week.

Not making any comment, mind you, just pointing this out.

My previous review pointing this out appeared for a couple of days, and then was deleted from the site, without explanation.

If Amazon is going to delete comments from concerned readers warning about dubious products, they should have the courtesy to explain why. The originator of this comment is, after all, only trying to perform a public service.

For a pocket-size paperback, Ed Rivis's latest book packs an amazing amount of clear, practical advice on all aspects of e-mail marketing. You can read it at one sitting, maybe two or three if you're really studying and making notes, and you will learn everything you need to know to start or improve your e-mail marketing. The emphasis is firmly on practice, not theory, yet Ed clearly explains the reasoning behind every recommendation. Eleven varied case histories from plumbing to graphic design, from event management to textiles, illustrate the power of properly implemented e-mail marketing in wide-ranging applications. What I particularly like is Chapter 5 "Press send" where Ed sets out a summary of the seven steps you need to follow to launch your first or a new e-mail marketing campaign using the latest tried and tested best practice. It's easy to read "how to do it" manuals and then procrastinate and do nothing at all. Ed does his level best to make sure the reader actually puts theory into practice. How's this for an example, referring to Step 1: Register for an e-mail marketing service. "The key thing at this stage is do go ahead and register for a service, even if it's just one of the cheapest. It's better to do anything rather than nothing. Don't let indecision stop you from registering. DO IT NOW!" You can't ask for more encouragement than that! I can't recommend this book too highly.

What Ed has accomplished in this book is truly brilliant because he guides you through the complete process and ensures by the end you have your very first email marketing campaign ready to go. He takes time to properly explain the thinking behind the tasks you undertake and even shares his own personal experiences inside (which for the cost of the book is a snippet of the price for hiring a professional!).

If you are advanced in email marketing, well don't worry because I still think there are lots and lots of tips inside here to improve your existing campaigns for both your clients and your own which will truly reap you results.

I found myself glued to the book and reading it all the way through ensuring each base is covered. I'm now in the process of testing my web pages and monitoring their conversions which without this book I would have never known these facilities were available.

When it comes to email marketing people have informed me of large budgets and crazy costs that as a small business owner, I could never afford however in times like this Ed's book is a godsend as he shows you a variety of ways to get your killer email marketing plan together at really affordable prices.

Ed, I personally think you are a genius and I look forward to enjoying the same success as you through email marketing!
