But what good is it when you can only get six minutes of use out of it. I figured I could just get a second battery and have that on charge while I vacuum with another battery - alas not! The only way to charge a battery is to couple it to the device and charge it. A major design oversight in my opinion.
I could forgive the six minute thing if the price was not so high and use it for spot cleaning as the suction and bristle are really good. But £95 is too much for very occasional spot cleaning in my opinion and not enough charge for a good car cleaning, which meant I returned the product and spend my £95 on a better portable vacuum cleaner! A token two stars for this product - good suction and good motorised head.
Would recommend this to anyone with pets as it does what it says- the rotating head attachment clears through carpet pile, its light and easy to use, its not too noise and charges easily. The instructions are a little unclear- only pictures with little text but did manage to figure the pictures out. That is pretty small negative though as on the whole it is user friendly and gives great results.
looks good and not heavy, so easy to handle
- however like other Dyson products is over-designed but under-built - feels flimsy and not likely to last (had Dyson fullsize vacuum - heavy, dirty and kept breaking)- also short battery life a pain
in it's favour is that suction is excellent, if short lived, and power brush pretty good.
no real competition in the U.K. - maybe that explains the outrageous purchase price - should be about £60-£70 for what you get.
Fist of all the battery life. 6 mins sounds, and is, a short period of time. However, this is not meant as a main vacuum or for larger clean up jobs. I have found in practice that the 6 mins life of the battery is more than enough for most jobs. If you are a bit fussy like me you will probably run out of charge using it to clean the car! but for most other things no problem. It would be nice if there was some kind of warning that the charge is running out, at the moment it just stops mid cleaning with no warning. All this said the machine is quite heavy and you may find that you have had enough after 6 mins anyway.
The suction is superb on this vacuum, without a doubt the best handheld I have tried. It picks up dust and hair and debris easily. All the usual Dyson features are here too, clear bin, easy emptying, washable filters.
The powered head is great (it is electrically powered not suction) it makes short work of any cleaning on fabrics or carpets. You do have to keep the head at the right angle to get the most from it though. Other tools included are good too (long crevice tool and crevice/brush tool) but can't be stored with the machine.
Overall I am very pleased with this machine and would recommend it to anyone looking for a really good hand held cleaner, particularly if you have pets. Don't let the 6 mins thing put you off either it really is enough for most small to medium jobs which is what this is designed to tackle.
It feels great in the hand, and as I said before, is lighter than I expected. You have to keep the trigger pressed to vacuum, which isn't as annoying as it sounds as it's well placed and responsive and the handle feels really comfortable.
You'll read a lot about the poor battery life. Work out how you want to use this cleaner and whether that'll be a problem for you. For me it's not. Let's face it you'll never try and hoover all the floors with this, it's perfect for 'dust-busting'. The fact that it's bagless is also a big selling point for me. Let's face it, hoover bags are never cheap, and the bag chambers on regular vacuum cleaners always quickly build up dirt and dust. Great just to hold this Dyson over a bin and release the collection chamber to empty it.
Buying this I've realised that Dyson is one of our few quality companies left. Buy this, you will love it. If you don't then return it!
