Manufacturer’s description

The Dyson Hot fan heater is the fastest to heat the whole room evenly.

Most conventional fan heaters can’t heat a whole room quickly because they use spinning blades powered by inefficient motors to distribute the air.

The Dyson Hot fan heater doesn’t have blades. Instead it uses Air Multiplier technology to amplify surrounding air six times and project heat further. The machine oscillates smoothly to distribute heat across the whole room.

Because there are no blades or visible heating elements there’s no need for a safety grille. You can select your target temperature to the degree and the machine’s intelligent thermostat keeps it there. The machine will cut-out automatically if tipped over.

The Dyson Hot fan heater can also be used as a powerful cooling fan. High velocity airflow cools you with an uninterrupted stream of smooth air.

The Dyson Hot fan heater includes:

Long range heat projection
The Dyson Hot fan heater uses an efficient motor and Air Multiplier technology to project heat further. The machine oscillates smoothly to distribute heat across the whole room.

Safety features
If tipped over the Dyson Hot fan heater automatically cuts out. And there are no fast spinning blades or visible heating element, so there’s no need for a safety grille.

No worrying burning smell
Dust that collects on the heating elements of some fan heaters burns when their temperature exceeds 230°C. The Dyson Hot fan heater has elements that never exceed 200°C, so there’s no burning smell.

Powerful cooling
Conventional fan heaters claim to be effective cool air fans as well. But some have low airflow and velocity – so they’re not. Air Multiplier technology generates high airflow and velocity, cooling effectively with an uninterrupted stream of smooth air.

Complete control
The Dyson Hot fan heater allows you to select the target temperature to the degree, from 1°C to 37°C, and the brushless motor allows you to precisely control airflow power. The machine can be tilted to direct airflow – it pivots on its own centre of gravity, staying put without having to be clamped. An independent motor allows it to oscillate smoothly to distribute heat throughout the room. Oscillation, airflow and temperature can all be controlled using the remote control, which is curved and magnetised to store neatly on top of the machine.

2 year parts and labour guarantee
Your Dyson fan heater is likely to take a few knocks and bashes during everyday use – but that’s nothing compared to what Dyson puts its machines through during testing and development. All Dyson machines undergo a lengthy and rigorous testing programme. That’s why the Dyson Hot fan heater includes a 2 year guarantee covering parts and labour.

Patented Dyson technology

Dyson engineers are constantly testing and inventing, trying to find new ways to make their technology work better. As they work, they file patent applications to protect their inventions from copycat manufacturers. That's why the only place you'll find Dyson technology is inside a Dyson machine.

The Dyson Hot fan heater uses Air Multiplier technology to amplify surrounding air and project heat further. Air is drawn in at the base of the heater by an energy-efficient motor. The mixed flow impeller combines the technologies used in turbochargers and jet engines to generate powerful airflow, which is accelerated through an annular aperture. It passes over an airfoil shaped ramp, which channels its direction. Air behind and around the machine is drawn into the airflow through the physical processes of inducement and entrainment, amplifying it 6 times.

I just bought the Dyson AM04. I tried to research this product before buying, but could find no information about specifications. Even the Wattage was a mystery at first. Dyson themselves could/would not provide any useful info!
So I was compelled to write this review to help others decide whether to buy it or not.
    So...
It does heat a room evenly but only a small, well insulated room. 16-20m2 max.
In very cold weather it will struggle to reach room temperature (21 C) and probably won't...
The thermostat is not `intelligent' and works like on any other heater, IE the heater will go on and off every few minutes according to setting. This means that the temperature in the room eventually goes down and you have to put the heater back on `full blast'.
It is as energy efficient (or not) as any fan heater, though does heat the space quicker and more evenly so maybe a little saving there...
It is only 2kw so will not do the job of a more powerful heater despite the 'Air Multiplier Technology'.
It is very noisy so not suitable for a bedroom.
It does look good and well designed...
It is not, in my opinion, worth the huge price tag. If you are looking to heat a large space this is definitely not for you. If you need to heat a small space and have money to burn-go for it.

We bought this heater to replace our old electric bar heater in our bedroom which we use on cold Winter nights. After the first night we switched it off after half an hour as it was like sleeping next to a hairdryer on full blast, even on level 1 of it's 10 fan settings. I lent this fan to my mother to warm her living room but even she turned it off after a while as it is very noisy and unsettling. Other than that the heater is extremely impressive with it's simple macbook type controls and sleek quality finish. The thermostat cut off is accurate as we have a seperate digital thermometer in the room which confirms the room temperature is correct and it keeps it constant without getting too hot and stuffy.

If the next version is almost silent then it will be 5 out of 5.

I have to say, I've coveted Dyson's "fans" since they came out, but never expected to own one. Now I do, I can say it is just as beautiful and magical as I imagined - it is by far the most attractive fan heater I've ever seen. The remote control is useful, as the main controls are at the base of the unit, so it saves you bending down, and it is magnetic, so you can perch it on the top of the heater when you don't need it. The tilt option is a nice touch - I had to stand my old fan heater on furniture to aim it at, say, drying laundry. The temperature and power controls are great - nice to have more than a couple of settings; this goes from 1-37°C in one degree increments, and has ten strength levels. The thermostat is also a nice feature, meaning it won't be on all the time if not required (saving electricity I assume). HOWEVER - it is quite noisy. A bit like a hairdryer, say - even on the lowest power setting, it is noticeable, and might disturb light sleepers. I suppose a silent fan heater is a difficult proposition. Still, if you have the money, I'd recommend it - this is a classy device.

This is a good looking neat heater. Unfortunately this is the only praise I can offer. In anything but the lowest settings it is obtrusively noisy and fails to heat a reasonably sized room. It tends to be draughty when the thermostat cuts in at times. All in all a bad choice for me - far too expensive. I though I was buying the cats whisker. Just to balance my comments I repeat that is a good looking heater!

I really wanted to like this product. I love Dyson as a company - it's British engineering at its best. Except not this time. Good looking product - yes. Nice remote control - yes. Oscillation - yes, great. Temperature control - yes. Heat a room - err, no. My hairdresser has hairdryers that are hotter than this - I'm being deadly serious! I've had it on for an hour now and it is not making the room any warmer. That's because the air coming out of it is not hot - it's just warm. On a really cold day, this would not heat a room properly. I'm almost tempted to send it back, except I will use it as a fan in summer. I think they made a decision to keep the temperature down to avoid the smell of burning dust - big mistake! Why? Because now it's not worthy of the name "heater". Oh, one more thing, I have a £15 fan heater that's quieter than this - even when the Dyson is on its lowest setting.

Disappointed, I think is the word I would use for this. I bought it to help heat a large conservatory after reading lots of 5 star reviews saying it is the quickest way to heat a room. Problem is, it doesn't say what size room. My conservatory is heated by an oil filled radiator that gets the room to about 16 degrees in the winter in the early hours of the morning. Turning the Dyson on with the oil filled rad, I thought, would heat the room up fast. But, after 2 hours, it had only raised the temperature by 3 degrees C, still too cold to sit in, and this is with the patio door open into the house. The conservatory gets to this temperature anyway with the door open.
Looks like I will be getting a new gas bottle for my LPG heater, that warms the room up in no time.
Sorry Dyson, it just doesn't work for me. If it was 1/3rd the price it would still be too dear. Looks nice though!
