Oh wow, I've loved all of Margarets books but this one has hit my heart more than the others.
Elijah has sunk into my heart and soul, my heart is full of love for him.
Alice a beautiful ballerina, with a heart of gold that loves her family and best friend Becky, you can feel it through the pages.
I have smiled, laughed and cried throughout this book, it really has pulled on my heartstrings, absolutely loved it from the first page.
Fantastic writing yet again. The ending felt so right, I'm sure Alice would be smiling :-)

*** I voluntarily reviewed this book, I gained no monetary incentives nor was I specifically requested to review the book, these are my honest ramblings and I hope you enjoy reading them - kat***

So this book as you will by the title and blurb will require you to have tissues at the ready, and I am going to make this review as spoiler-free as I can do, so this will make the review short.

I knew this book was going to be a tear-inducing read, the author and other early review posts on my facebook feed had prepared me, and also having read Margaret McHeyzer's book Ugly I knew that the author has a talent for creating emotional stories.

Being prepared I wanted to be as strong as I could, and although I had an ever-present lump in my throat, I did make it to chapter 23... but then I was toast! after the end of chapter 22 I was sobbing I had to stop and take a break before continuing.

Alice and Becky have grown up together, sisters if not in blood but in souls, and then at 17 Alice meets Elijah.

In Happy fairy tales, Alice and Elijah will live happily ever after, but Margaret likes to write books that are more true to life, and sometimes fate has a different path for people. Margaret writes about these characters, the ones that will touch a reader's soul, these characters may be fiction, but their journey will make you contemplate your own and it did with me.

I am going to say that I found Part 2 harder to read than Part 1, as with Death its the ones left behind that feel the worst pain, so as such part 2 being about life after Alice passes it was more real, there was pain, grief, but also hope and possibilities for happiness after Alice for Elijah.

** Review by Gayle from Bloggers from Down Under **

You’re my perfect, you’re my salvation, you’re my everything

It’s not often…No let me re-phrase….
It’s so rare as reader that you come across a book that will completely swallow you whole, and I mean that in every sense of the word, but Dying Wish did that to me.
Brutal, highly confronting, emotional to the highest of degrees, heartbreaking, soul changing, gut wrenching….
These are the only words I can give to explain to you all how I felt reading this.
It completely broke me, shattered my heart, splintered my very core, and even after finishing it a day a go, I am still not sure how I can explain to you what this book did to me.
This book for me was everything I could have honestly asked for and so much more.

We meet three beautiful souls, young and carefree, the world is at their feet. They are best friends, soul mates….Alice, Elijah and Rebecca.
Alice and Rebecca are inseparable.
Best friends since as far back as they can remember, they have a special bond, sisters in fact and nothing will ever get between them.
Elijah….He has watched Alice at a distance. He has known her since forever and wants nothing more than to speak to her, to hold her, to declare his feelings for her.
He wants more with her.
And Alice…She wants more with him.
They will get their more?

This is their story.
A story about hope and strength
A story about fear and pain.
A story about friendship and love that will never be broken.

Please hear me when I say you need to read this. Dying Wish is a novel that will stay with me always. It will be forever ingrained into my heart and soul, and I know it will forever stay with you.

This is my first book by Margaret McHeyzer, what a great one to start with. I honestly didn’t think I could make it through this book. There was a point when my heart was so broken I doubted she could put it back together. Well, I ripped off the band-aid so to speak……powered through……I’m so glad I did!!! It’s such an emotional story full of tears, smiles, chuckles, both heartfelt and heartbreaking moments. One I won’t soon forget.
I’m not going to tell you what it’s about, you can read that in the description. I can tell you that it’s a story that captured my heart, broke it into a million pieces and managed to make it whole again, full circle. It’s a beautiful story of Friendship, Love and Compassion, Selflessness, Promises, Courage and Strength, the journey of life, it’s challenges and moving forward. It’s beginnings and endings…..more beginnings.
I loved all of these characters; Alice, Becky, Elijah, Mike, Nicki……the entire community and how they all work together to show their love and support. I love the little hints along the way that gave me hope. I love how Alice knew, encouraged and put a plan in place for her friends and family to bring them together to help them heal. I know they kept asking but, I felt she was talking to them all along they just weren’t ready to listen. I love the rain.....the tree…..the key…..the heart…..the letters……OMG even the elephant, lol!! Thank you Margaret McHeyzer for an amazing story, the next time I see the Nutcracker I will think of Alice, I’ll make sure to have some tissue handy.
