Simply put, this game is fun. Nowadays, many big budget games seem to feel more like interactive movies. The Order: 1886 is one clear example. This is perfectly fine, in it's own right. However, it's sometimes nice just to be able to stick a game in your console which you can have hours of aimless fun with. Dying light is one such game that is enjoyable and fun to play with a decent story line to keep you interested in the missions.
You probably won't become emotionally invested in the plot or many of the characters that you meet with. You probably won't even care very much about your own character in the game, but I have no doubt that upon your first headsmash, molotov inferno, explosive ninja star massacre, electrocution take down or poison gas combo kill, you will be glad you picked up this game. ( To get an idea of the story watch this video, and for some other dying light gameplay videos check out the channel (no spoilers) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0ZXW_vKyK4&spfreload=10 )

Great game: nice to see an action adventure game that's not too up itself. Fluid gameplay, gorgeous scenery - the plot, although basic, has some nice twists. Would highly recommend playing co-op with a friend too!

Firstly, a warning, this games takes a couple of hours to get into and probably another 2 or 3 before you're actually effective in dealing with any zombies - until that happens you have only one option....be very quiet and climb everything!
The first time you find yourself caught out in the open and surrounded by zombies will probably result in you dying, the first time you're caught out at night - you'll panic and die and if you remember to press the correct button when being chased through the black night your treated to a 28 Days Later'esque slo-mo glance over your shoulder as they close in on you!

So, onto the game itself.

Think Mirrors Edge mixed with Dead Island and you've got it nailed. However, they have borrowed game mechanics from various other titles:
1) Towers from AC games (read safe houses)
2) Lock picking lifted directly from Skyrim
3) Parkour takem from Mirrors Edge
4) Quirky melee combat taken from Dead Island

There is a story and it's not as bad as some would make out - you do find yourself doing numerous fetch missions but it's so easy to get sidetracked that it doesn't really matter. The game voice overs are good and believable and the characters typically over the top but semi-believable.

I'm about 6 hours in and the story hasn't got old yet - though I'm realising that I need to level up quite a lot to carry on with the story since I keep getting killed!

The game relies heavily on scavenging materials, building/crafting upgrades, molotovs, exploding throwing stars etc.

Zombies have been a pretty big theme in gaming recently and with releases like The Last of Us setting the bar, it's tough not to be disappointed. Well it may not be the same caliber as Naughty Dog's masterpiece, but it's definitely a great game. To give you a quick overview, it's a lot like dead island with really stunning graphics, an enticing story line and some solid game play.

The story: I'm still playing through the game but so far it's a very immersive single player experience. I won't go into too much detail but essentially your character has been airdropped into the middle of a (Middle Eastern?) zombie infested city. There is a main story line you'll be following, coupled with a huge amount of varied side quests that you can complete throughout the game. The characters are pretty well developed, there are a few annoying ones that will never want to cross again, but for the most part, the game is filled with some interesting people.

Game play: At first, the game play will feel a little weird and unconventional. The use of R1 on the PS4 to jump and climb (similar to Assassin's Creed) does take some getting use to. But once you get the hang of it, things handle very smoothly. Fighting can be a little awkward at times, and you'll probably find yourself mainly running away from enemies at the start, but once you get the hang of things, it can be really satisfying. Once you do get upgraded and learn new skills and abilities, the character still doesn't feel completely overpowered. There are a variety of zombie types introduced as you progress to keep you on your toes. This can make for some pretty adrenaline filled moments when you have to retreat while being chased by some pretty creepy runner zombies (think World War Z).
