I just love reading Patricia Cornwell books - and in particular those featuring Doctor Kay Scarpetta. Some how I managed to miss this one before - so I am playing catch up. A good read but a tad slow in places - and I did put it down a couple of times - most unusual for me. Perhaps there is just too much detail in parts - certainly much of it not necessary. Is it the author trying to be clever or just padding?
Not her best book I am afraid. I still enjoyed it in the end - but it took some effort!

I've been a huge fan of Ms. Cornwell's for many, many years but I have to say that I actually put 'Dust' down a third of the way through - the storyline as it was, left me feeling so very tired, so very bored. Basically I gave up on it.

The story didn't really seem to be going anywhere, it was a case of 'come on then, where are we going with this, when does the action begin?' It really did drag out between the old detective she'd worked with and the supressed age old feelings between the two of them. The pace was oh so very slow . . . I closed it and don't think I'll pick it up again sadly, as I really do rate Ms. Cornwell.

I don't know if I have changed or the Scarpetta books have changed but I'm not enjoying them any more. I've been following them since the first but I'm not gripped any more :( I was bored.

I'd started to get disheartened with the Scarpetta series the last few books have felt like a different author. I'm glad I persevered as this is much more like the books I know and love. Gone is the superficial Scarpetta and back is the multi tasking Scarpetta I know. I can honestly say I look forward to the next one

I normally cannot put Scarlett stories down but I found this one took to long to start getting good. I'm also getting a bit sick and tired of all the characters slagging of Marino who supposed be there good friend. While I did enjoy the second part of the book could of been better I thought.

Sorry to say - fallen out of love with all main characters. Finding all irritating now. Used to look forward to these books so much. Fed up with Scarpetta's angst and long dialogues. Shame

I am a great fan of Patricia Cornwell, but I found it hard to finish this book.
Not her best effort ; quite confusing in some parts, never quite explaining itself.
The ending appears rushed and really not worthy of a Scapetta novel!
