    I bought this after a holiday in Greece when I became slightly addicted to ice cold frappés (is that the plural of frappé?), they make them from evaporated milk, Nescafé, sugar, cold water and ice. This does the job absolutely perfectly and is exactly what the average Greek is using. The thing is so good that you can put Nescafé in water, with nothing else, and it will produce a froth. It can also be used to whip a bit of air into a couple of eggs to make a very light omelette.
    There are some twits that have give the product a bad review because it will not blend protein shakes, this is foolish, I don't think that it is supposed to be used for that job. It probably won't peel a potato or slice a pineapple either. Others are grumbling because you need to hold the container with one hand whilst pressing the buttons with the other. I think that it is made like that so that you can get any container underneath and can froth your drink in any mug or glass that you want.
    If you want to make frappés then this is the machine for you!

    Purchased this for use in a small cafe like environment and it works wonders for the occasional use (makes 15 drinks a night or so). I was impressed with the quality of the product for the price point.

    We did look at commercial spindle mixers but they were around £200+. This Duronic mixer works without fail for light use.

    I thought carefully before buying this item. I only want to make milkshakes - so I thought this would be perfect. I did not expect it to do anything else at all.
    Sadly, very sadly, it does not make shakes I want to drink. I want to make shakes with fruit and ice-cream, not powder. It WILL NOT cope with even very soft fruit. I have tried mashed bananas, very soft raspberries and they remain solid, as does ice-cream [soft]. So yes it does make milkshakes if you just use powder and they are ok. But it certainly does not make the sort of shake I bought it to make.
    So buyer beware.

    I have been wanting one of these for a while now, but had a bit of a budget restriction so looked around a bit. Saw this one and thought that it's perfect. Saw the picture of the stainless steel design and the way the cup stays connected to the machine when it's turned on and whizzing (see picture 1). BEWARE! there is no rest for the stainless steel cup. YOU MUST HOLD IT THERE WITH YOUR HAND ..... which is not how it is represented in the photo (unless it has super powers and levitate by itself!!!). Slightly misleading, but I thought it's good to know because that's the first thing you say to yourself when you try it (trust me!).
    Apart from that, the machine is good. Does what it says on the box, and I like that. very decent price too. Such a shame that the designers went a bit lazy on the practicality issue. Nevermind, I'm not sending it back for £15, it'll do fine for ice coffee and milkshakes this summer (if we ever get one!). hope this helps.

    This is amazing. Better than I expected. I use it for lattes, slimfast shakes, frappes, smoothies, omelettes etc

    It really is brilliant. It makes drinks creamy, frothy and delicious. Diet shakes/drinks taste completely different. Even frappes made with water and no milk, are exactly as they are in Greece.

    It doesn't just froth, like a lot of alternatives I have tried. It completely changes drinks.

    Yes, you have to hold the container up to the machine, but the machine works best when the container is moved up and down whilst it is switched on, so this is necessary anyway. Don't keep it in one place, especially near the bottom of the liquid. Move it about. In a matter of seconds, an inch of liquid becomes half a cup.

    It actually works best if you just put a small amount of liquid in to start and then either add to it or top it up once in a glass. For example, with frappes, if you put too much water in, it completely changes the drink. Froth an inch of water with a couple of spoons of coffee (and sugar if desired). It will soon half fill the container. Pour it into a glass, add a dash of milk and then top up with water ( add ice if you like.) For milkshakes, put enough powder/fruit in for a glass but only a little milk. As before, froth until container is half full, pour into a glass and top up with milk.

    Cleaning is a doddle and it is mess free!

    I can't praise this highly enough. I use this more than once every day. It's amazing.
