Wake a thousand years later into a great scene set for the trilogy

Cool Characters, cool story, really cool artwork. This book makes a seriously interesting read for anyone who likes either, Sci-fi', vampires, or even just a strong female lead. The story is well written, with enough depth to keep you interested whilst you learn about the characters and the general plot; ie Mutant Vampire & bounty hunter, Durham Red, tired of violence & death, puts herself into suspended animation, stays there for 'way too long' whilst a cult-like religion develops around beliefs and legends about her. Definitely an unusual idea, though it was done in a more comedy style once before. (Red Dwarf=Cloister the cat's God) The real fun here starts as Red awakens to find not only did her 'alarm clock' not go off centuries ago, but now half the galaxy wants her to lead them in battle, whilst the other half wants her dead. <Life's full of funny little moments innit?> The artists who worked on this book deserve real credit for the outstanding work put in here, the writers too.

This was a simply wonderful read - where I read the story of what happened to Durham red in 2000ad - which i missed as I was not a reader at the time sadly , so it was a fascinating read - I also found the back-story to the Black Flame Novels about Durham Red .
This occurs on the planet Planet Wodan, where an acolyte of the Tenebrae faith , Judas Harrow bears witness to the resurrection of his god, Saint Scarlet of Durham. But when former Strontium Bitch Durham Red awakes after 1,200 years in suspended animation she's more than surprised to find that she is at the centre of a mutant religion. While the Tenebrae revere her return, the deadly human Iconoclasts want nothing more than to eradicate her and her brethren. Caught in a web of extremism and intolerance Durham Red has to come to terms with a destiny she never expected .The artwork is really nice and the writer knows how to spin a good story - very recommended book to anyone
