This is very much a Duke Nukem game but not as we know it. There have been severel DUKE NUKEM games over the years but the one most people like and remember so foundly is DUKE NUKEM 3D. This game is not Duke 3d if you can get over that you should be fine and will enjoy this game for what it is. Now i know this game changed a great deal over the years and when you complete this game you get to see what it would have looked like if it was realeased back in 2001 and it looked far better than the game we ended up with but thats not to say that DNF is a bad game it's just different and i quite enjoyed having a blast on it.

Like some others have mentioned, I really don't get why this game has got slated so badly. After just completing the game I can say that it is quite long, has varied levels and some rather interesting gameplay which adds things that other games don't. For instance getting shrunk down and making your way along table tops and through vents while shooting attacking rats. No other game offers this sort of FUN which is what duke nukem is about! fun and good old gaming where you can have FUN without worrying about a perfect headshot or whatever. I thought I'd hate it, I hated the demo, and I hated the vulgarity of it, however playing the game the vulgarity isn't all that bad and it reminds you what fun you had playing duke nukem.

Sure it's been 12 years and the game seems to think it was a shining success and it isn't.. it could of and should of been a lot better. However what has been created is a good fun game with varied gameplay which always keeps you playing and having fun.

Can be bought very cheap now and it is an absolute bargain. Especially since I got it for under £5!

You wait years for a game to come along and then a rubbish one arrives in its place. `Duke Nukem 3D' was the first game I ever bought for gaming PC back `int day and it remains one of the best PC game I ever had. Fast-forward too many years I would care to mention and after a tortured birth `Duke Nukem Forever' finally makes its way onto not only the PC, but consoles too. But why bother?

`Forever' took a long time to make and you can sense that in the way the game plays. The game design feels archaic as if formed in the afterglow of `Half Life'. Physics based puzzles are interspersed with shooting elements. This was fun in 2001, but by 2011 gamers are more used to the immersive worlds of Rapture or Arkham City. This is not to say `Half Life' is a bad game, just that over the past 10 years Valve have evolved their gameplay, 3D Realms never did. Some of the platform sections of `Forever' are truly awful, harking back to the worst type of old style FPS.

With awful level design the game is going to have to fall back on other positives, but it has few. Duke was always a muscle headed action thug, but the joke has worn pretty thin by now. While rubbish sprites of near nude ladies have a certain hokey charm, the 3D models of the modern era feel far more seedy and perverse. The humour falls flat on more than one occasion as the game steps over the line into your girlfriend demanding you switch it off territory. With poor level design and misguided humour it is only the brief moments of nostalgia that make the game worth playing at all. `Duke Nukem Forever' should have forever remained on ice.

Duke Nukem Forever is...overall (having played the game from start to finish and tried it on various difficulties) not a bad game. Saying that though it is nothing special either, it doesn't have anything graphic wise that we don't have already. But the game can be a great combination of challenging, fun and cheeky in that classic Duke way with sexual references, bloody gore and oversized enemies. If you ever wandered what Duke Nukem 3D would look like in modern day...I think this as good as it's going to get. I give this a solid 4/5 because in my personal opinion it is good gory and crude fun and having limited access to the older Duke Nukem games this is a good alternative.

It can go over the top with the puns and crude references (yes even for Duke Nukem) sometimes. And the occasional glitch might show itself but what game doesn't these days. Otherwise it is a great action game that bring back your favourite alien freaks in enhanced detail and graphics.

You most certainly need to be 18 or older to play, normally I wouldn't be so fussy about this but the adult humour on this is crazy (in both good ways and bad ways), not even getting into the gore. Classic fans of Duke Nukem...it's a toss up it all depends on how much you like change really...if you can stand what they have done to him, then you might like it. He still has some of his classic quotes that will make you smile if that helps. As for newcomers well...welcome to one of the most crude shooters ever :D

This game is fun to play, and is a proper Duke Nukem game with the same old style he was famous for back in the day. But what does this version really add? Not a lot.

Firstly, my biggest gripe, INVISIBLE WALLS!! I thought we had left that behind years ago, but Duke Nukem Forever is a multiple offender on this front. Lots of times, you try to go forwards only to be stopped by an invisible wall. In today's world of free roaming environments this is a most unwelcome flashback. Not only areas you should be able to walk down, but things you should be able to jump on. It says "explore everywhere" - but you soon get fed up with the game blocking your progress for no good reason. This is especially obvious when you are "shrunk" - because it doesn't seem to make any adjustment for your size, so you still can't go into areas that are four or five times the width of mini-Duke.

Secondly, the weapons are... well... boring. When Duke Nukem 3D came out, it was one of the first to introduce clever weapons (pipe bombs, trip mines) in a world where we just had Doom's melee and simple missile weapons. The guns are well animated, but do they really add anything original?

Thirdly, loading times are lllloooonnnggggg. I just timed a reload after dying right near the beginning of the level, and it took 32 seconds. From the hard drive. 32 seconds?

Fourthly, graphics. Okay, but again, more like an old Serious Sam than a brand new game. Little white dotted lines appearing occasionally between textures? Hmm... looks a bit Beta to me.

I guess after it's turbulent history we should be glad to have get any decent Duke time at all, but still.

So to summarize, it's fun, but plays like an Xbox Classic or XBLA, not a brand new, full priced, just released game.

If you liked Duke Nukem 3D, then this is probably worth a go, but be prepared for it feeling like a Duke Nukem 3D port for the Xbox 360.
