Product description

A compilation charting fourteen years of collaboration between poet Felix Dennis and composer George Taylor, featuring guest artists and highlights from the final poetry collection 'I Just Stepped Out', published on the first anniversary of Felix's death, with the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra. All tracks - drawing on all seven of Felix's works, from 'A Glass Half Full' in 2001 onwards - have been remixed and remastered for this collection. Felix Dennis came to poetry late in life. Notorious for his part in the 1971 Oz obscenity trial, his ensuing publishing career netted him millions. The creator of Maxim, he was soon enjoying all the other trappings of success - including drugs. Going cold turkey at the end of the Nineties, Felix choose writing poetry for his new addiction. from 2001 until his death, Felix published 9 collections and anthologies, becoming one of the most commercially successful poets in the country and a popular live draw. Diagnosed with terminal cancer at the end of 2013, Felix carried on writing almost to the end, leaving detailed instructions for the publication of what would be his posthumous work 'I Just Stepped Out', published June 2015. George Taylor is an award-winning composer, writing mainly for television and film. As part of collective 'the fratelli brothers', he composed his first broadcast commission - a three hour BBC 'Arena' special - in 1995. Other credits included '1900 House', 'Grand Designs', 'Omnibus', 'Dispatches' and '7 Wonders Of The Industrial World'. Moving to rural Shropshire in 2004, he continued to write on his own, scoring for BBC 'Natural World' and many one-off documentaries - and recording and composing all of Felix's spoken word CDs, which accompanied each of the books.
