Sturdy, mains-driven saw, built to last. The included clamps hold it very firmly on a workbench. It's solid. Mains driven so powerful too.
Vacuum attachment nozzle. This is FANTASTIC. I attached my vacuum cleaner to the hole (it just fitted perfectly) and I had ZERO dust or shavings. The cleanest cuts I've ever had. Not only can you see what you are cutting, there's no cleaning up afterwards either.
5 blades included BUT you need to select the correct one for the material you are cutting. The largest blade is the sturdiest and best for wood, MDF and the like. The finest toothed blade is for metal and will not cut wood successfully - it just veers off at an angle making you wonder what's going on!
I found straight cuts were fine but needed patience; the worst thing you can do is force the material into the blade. Let the blade do the work and it's just fine (and quick). Curves were just as easy. Holes needed a pilot hole drilling first and the blade fitted through the hole. A bit fiddly but the result is great.
The carry-case is a great way to store the saw, unless you are fortunate enough to mount it permanently on your workbench. But take a picture of it when you first open it up as it's tricky to get it all back in again without a picture showing you what slots in where. No picture was included.
The saw is variable speed, from 1 to 5. Great. But there's nothing in the guide to indicate what you might use different speeds for.Read more ›
The saw and base are very well designed and it is very simple to set up and change saw blades. The parallel guide attachment is useless as it is too flimsy to provide a stable guide.
Perfect straight lines take a little practice as there is some give in the blade if too much forward force is applied.
The Moto Saw is quite a big beast for an allegedly hand-held device, and I'd be surprised if many people regularly used the saw off its base as it has delicate blades which look easy to break (See pic with the 5 blades on a rule) and an awkward twist or slip and it's "Snap!" with the blade. So I decided against using the Moto Saw off its base.
After very little faffing about, and no swearing whatsoever (always a good sign) I had the Moto Saw mounted and ready to work. I decided to try it with something pretty challenging; laminate flooring. I figure if it will work with that very tough stuff, it'll well with most woods. I picked the coarsest blade and set to.
The Moto Saw is quieter than a lot of power tools, but not particularly quiet by scroll saw standards. It's neither good nor bad in that respect. Whilst it didn't cut through the laminate with great vigour, the blade cut very cleanly and it was very easy to change direction of cut. I've uploaded a picture of my test cut.
Overall, it's more novelty than tool. On one hand, it cuts very cleanly and is easy to use, but so do all scroll saws, that's the whole point of them. ersonally I would prefer something that was built as a bench-mounted scroll saw, instead of this hybrid, so for my money I'd prefer the Clarke CSS400B 16" Scroll Saw Clarke CSS400B 16" Scroll Saw which is the same price at time of writing. A great present for someone who likes to think of himself as someone who'd use it, but actually would only use it a couple of times. Serious craft woodworkers should look elsewhere, IMO.

What can you say? Dependabel Dremel quality. I does however vibrate a lot due to the fact that it is an oscillating saw and doesn't weight very muchPublished 2 months ago by Kjell
