I am not finding it particularly easy to change tools, the collet tends to come away with the collet nut and then I have to separate them before reassembling with a new tool, hence the loss of a star. There may be a knack to this that I have yet to acquire.
The charging base is pretty solid and stable, it won't take up much room on a work bench, and it stores the device neatly along with a few spare tool bits. The instructions say you can leave it charging if you like, I've not had to recharge yet despite having used the device for a good few hours since it's initial 5 hour charge.
A reasonable selection of tools are supplied, cutting, sanding, engraving and polishing can be done straight from the tin (after charging). The tin the device arives in is a good storage tin and comes with a separate section for your own bits and bobs, which is a nice touch.
If you are looking for a solid hardworking device for hobby work or light work this is a good choice, it is not as powerful as some of the other dremel devices, but it deals well with cutting wood and metal, grinding, sharpening, sanding and engraving (I've not tried anything else), and the weight distribution in the device makes it much less tiring to hold.
Very few useful extras
only one size collet supplied - you have to buy other ones to fit other shaft sizes
Does not hold the charge very long, have to keep it on charge between uses
Over packaged - you pay for it
However works well, would I buy it again, no, would look at cheaper options that seem just as good.

We ordered this hobby dremel as our big full size dremel was just too big and heavy for some more delicate tasks involved in making all the decorations for my recent wedding. Read morePublished on 5 May 2011 by Daisy-May
I have just returned a second of these for a refund. The design is good, ergonomic, easy to use... when it actually works properly. The build quality is, on the surface, good. Read morePublished on 17 Feb. 2011 by finn i.e.
