It is powerful enough with good capacity battery. Bit bulky to use for fine work but you soon get used to it. Could do with supplying a set of different size collets (bought separately) as the one supplied only takes larger bits. Nice carrying bag.

Fantastic hobby tool, great range of accessories but some are way too expensive unfortunately. The only thing that would better this dremel is the addition of a wrist strap as I am frightened of dropping it.

    First, 2 disclaimers:
    1. I am not now, nor have I ever been, a handyman. I'm almost the definitive Klutz.
    2. I got this item for free, for review purposes.

Having accepted the freebie review item, my first thought was, "What have I done? I must need my head examined! I have no use at all for this thing!"

I opened the nice little bag, looked at all the bits and pieces, and had the same thought again, but in CAPITAL LETTERS this time. But there was a DVD (which I hadn't expected) so I watched it.

Then I started playing around with the Dremel. There WERE some little odd-jobs around the house and in the garden, and this gizmo looked as if it might make them easier, even for a Klutz like me. That was how it began...

Then I started to think about more artistic ways of using the machine. Little bits of engraving, here and there.

Now I'm addicted to the thing! There really seems to be no end to its uses. This set gives you an excellent set of accessories, but when you see how many more are available to purchase, you realise that this thing is really a sort of sonic screwdriver!

Normally I get stuff to review, use it for a bit, and discard it. This is different. If this thing ever breaks down, I'll have to hand over my hard-earned cash to get another. How would I survive without it??!

If you even think you might need/want one of these, you're probably right. Definitely recommended!

I've never owned anything like this before but when it arrived I instantly thought of several jobs I've done in the past where it would have been extremely useful, as well as some jobs that will need doing in the future that will now be a lot easier!

The tool feels well made and good quality and while I don't know yet how important of a factor this is, it feels well balanced in my hand (not too heavy at one end or the other) which I imagine can only be a good thing.

The unit is cordless and comes with a battery charger. The battery pushes into the base of the tool. It came fully charged so I can't comment on how long it takes to fully charge.

The "fifteen accessories" is something of an embellishment. I can't work out exactly how it has been counted but I'll summarise what you get:

    Sanding disc x4
    Sanding band x4
    Buffer (white pad thingy) x2
    Drill bit (3mm) x1
    Wire brush disc x1
    Mini spanner/flat-head screwdriver x1
Aluminium Oxide Grinding Stone x1 (I had to look this up, had no idea what it was)

You also get a handle that can be attached to the body of the tool near the front (like the second handle you can add to a power drill) for steadier use.

Basically it's actually more like six accessories and you get a few spares of some of them (this is the reason I knocked off one star. Aside from the picture they don't list anywhere what the included accessories are; even in the instructions).

The accessories are very easy to change and don't require any additional tools. You just hold down a lock button near the tip and screw/unscrew collet nut.

You get a good-sized carry-bag, the Dremel itself, a steadying handle, charger and a small set of accessories. The Dremel has some rubber coatings on the body and is good to hold and the handle really helps in holding it steady.
Once you own a Dremel you find lots of uses for it and there is an enormous range of accessories. I use mine mainly for drilling pilot holes, grinding and polishing small items, cutting bolts to length and I also have a tile-cutter bit and the lawnmower-blade sharpener attachment.
I bought a tripod in a charity shop but it was missing its handle. I used the Dremel with a cutting disc to cut the flattened end off the rod so I could fit a file handle on and give the tripod a new lease of life. The Dremel had plenty of power and it took a couple of minutes to saw the rod through.
    It's a great tool.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I've owned a similar spec corded model (the Dremel 3000) for a couple of years now. I bought it primarily to have a go at wood carvings, but it comes in useful all the time. The only real downside was the portability (if you're doing DIY jobs with several power tools on the go, the less you have to keep unplugging and plugging back in the better). Seeing this on Amazon Vine, though, I snapped it up and (unless you're pushed for money) I'd say it is well worth paying the extra for the freedom it brings.

If you've never used a Dremel before you're in for a shock! It begins life fairly innocuously sitting there ready for the occasional bit of detail sanding work or for drilling pilot holes. Then you'll start searching online and seeing the hundreds of attachments and what it can do. Then you'll be doing a DIY or general household job and remember there is a bit for the Dremel to do it easier! Before you know it, it has become one of the most (if not the most) important tools in your kit! ... I've lost count of the number of times I've come across a problem only to remember "I can Dremel that!" It is like a powered Swiss-army knife, I suppose.

The best things for me are to have a mini drill ready for doing pilot holes and mini sander (which is handy for all sorts of small jobs when you're doing DIY--just remember to sand on a low speed setting to begin with as it is easier to remove more than you wanted to on higher settings). With this model you get the detailers grip, which gives you drill-like accuracy for drilling (or better precision sanding). It also makes holding the unit far more comfortable for lengthier jobs, as holding it with a pen grip can give you cramp after a while.
