This book reads like a big budget action movie - think Mission Impossible meets Thunderbirds with a dash of Patrick Ewing. By Aaron Patterson's own admission he was aiming for a action movie feel and he achieved it!

But most big budget movies require you to suspend disbelief - would that car really have exploded? Why do they never need to reload? And this book is the same. There are some great ideas in here, the pace is good and it's quite fun.

I read the uncut version with author commentary and so some of my comments are related to the author's - Mr Patterson tells us he based one of the characters on Bruce Willis and it shows, one of the scenes in the book is lifted straight from Die Hard.

The extra scenes which were originally edited out could easily have stayed out as I didn't find they added much to the story line. The time line in the book is a little disjointed - two characters are operating in the same area independently and the cross over between their stories isn't quite timed right disturbing the smooth flow of the action but on the whole I'm guessing the editing is much improved from the first attempt (see authors comments :))Although one of the characters just disappears from the storyline mid story I believe she features in a sequel - Hollywood style!

If you like action, guns, boys toys and just want to switch off your brain and escape reality - this is a fun read.

I am an avid reader of thrillers, action books and 'Who Dunnits' and when I was purchasing a book to download to my Kindel Fire, I accidently down loaded this one as it appeared under the search for James Patterson. I really enjoyed this book as it has all the catergories that I look for. It really was 'A Gripping Read' and I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be looking for another from this author.

Excellent story telling, jumping between two main characters and story lines that you as the reader can see joining up !!! Maybe. This is an easy book to read and I really enjoyed it, although at one point I wasn't sure which was the dream?

Having read that this book was similar in style to James Patterson I looked forward to a tense tale. However the plot was totally lost for me towards the end when a thriller seemed to turn into sci fi. This turn in the plot was for me ridiculous and completely lacking in explanation and therefore credibility, although I realise that it is fundamental to the title and purpose of the book.

Reading the authors notes about the process of writing Sweet Dreams explains a lot; I did enjoy a great deal of this book, the 2 main characters in particular, but I have to say there are probably enough plots and ideas for 3-4 novels. I like a curve ball, but my head was in a spin at points at times. I think the beginning and the middle were strong, but it tried to cram in too much at the end. Definitely shows great potential though, I will be checking out other titles by this author.

The premiss was interesting, but I thought the characters were a bit one dimensional. Would suit Lee Child and Matt Hudson fans, but it's not as good as any Reacher novel.

Apart from the names the story has been told hundreds of times before. The plot was childish and so unbelievable that it was to silly even for a "Fantasy" listing
