This book not like her normal style of writing which I think show cases her talent with only a couple minor things that bothered me about the book. Too start with, I want to say the word "Tender" in any form was way over used and that in some key spots I felt that the passion, that I know Lynnette can write, got lost and I just didn't get that emotional wave of what the character was feeling when your picturing the characters or the scenes of a book. The best parts of this book where the passion was there were at the beginning (the attack) and then the scene with Alison in the camp ground, the later being so intense I could not help but cry.
This story had about the same amount of action going on in the bedroom but less graphic language (no F-bombs and such) compared to her other books.
I do like how thought out each of the characters were, even Jerod, Kay and the Fletcher's had their quirks, which doesn't always happen with minor characters. Edwin McCoy could be the poster parent for why some parent should be licensed to become parents. And being a Trekky I have to I love the name Sam McCoy and that the reference was used ;)
I will most likely read this book again because it is a worthy read even with its minor imperfections.

While Ive read , and enjoyed, all.of the books in her other series: Beckett Wolf Pack - Triad Mates, and Cowboy Mates - Psychic Connections, this new series Mates of Destiny - Angel Chosen seems much more 'human'. Yes, I'm aware the Beckett Pack are wolves, therefore; should seem less human. Let me explain. The characters from either of her other two series are more interchangeable. Everyone loves everyone. While there are problems which drive the other stories you undoubtedly know exactly how everyone will act toward everyone else regardless of werewolf genes or McKade cowboy genes. They all act the same. Very 'Stepfordish', or cookie-cutter, if you get my drift.
Here, in this series, I'm finally beginning to see some great character development & I couldn't be happier. Rachel and Sam seem more real. They make more human mistakes and assumptions. They act like real people would in the circumstances they find themselves in. The added human foibles add a depth to the character's development that sometimes.seems to lack in her other series. Please do not misunderstood me, I LOVE her other series, but walk away from them without 'feeling' them as deeply as I'd like to. In this case Lover of My Dreams made me feel for H/h, shake my head, want to strangle them, hug them, or give them a swift kick. THAT, folks, makes for a memorable and relatable story - even with the adorably cutesy guardian Angel.
Rachel & Sam are childhood friends who are torn apart by Sam's conniving father. Rachel makes the grand sacrifice to give up Sam so that his father won't hurt him or the rest of her remaining family. Years later they are brought together once again and friendships and passions are renewed as other great secondary characters are introduced. Just as you think these two lovebirds are finally going to get their fondest wish the H does something stupid, as men are wont to do, and he shatters Rachel's heart. Will these two soul mates ever get it together? Read it and find out. You won't be sorry!
HOLY HOTNESS WAS THIS BOOK AWESOME! Lover of My Dreams was out of this world good. I loved the themes, elements, plot, and the set of characters. Its a fantastic story that was superbly written. Lynnette out did herself with Lover Of My Dreams. This is a true one of a kind paranormal romance that seemed so different and unique compared to other paranormal romances.
Angels, helpful dreams, and good friends, helped this story become one of the most memorable books for me to read this year. I loved Roy and Paulette and Sam and Rachel. The romance was sweet and sexy. The sex was delicious and hot and oh so good!
I don't think I have read a story quite like this. I loved the whole angel angle to the story. I don't read a lot of paranormal stories with angels so getting to read this one was nice, especially since it was written by Lynnette Bernard. She definitely knows what she is doing when it comes to writing a story. I gave Lover of My Dreams an OUTSTANDING FIVE SHOOTING STARS! It was more then I expected and I am so glad I got the chance to read and review it. I hope you pick this story up for yourself so you can find out why I loved it so much! Happy reading!
