5.0 out of 5 stars An unusually effective story 16 April 2014

Dreamcatcher is an unusual and intriguing story that I enjoyed very much. The story entwines a relaxing, nostalgic road trip to eight beautiful nature locations in the U.S. with the sad story of a man who has lost his wife and feels disengaged from his son. I found it a surprisingly effective blend. Both aspects are quietly accentuated by the contrast, while the Ojibwe Indian bridges the two and offers John, the husband, a means of resolution. And as we become more familiar with John, it's a resolution we are looking for as well no matter how it is achieved. The writing style is deftly simple and direct, which lends sincerity and, I think, works as a nice analogue to the outwardly calm but inwardly shattered husband. Mr. Nicholas also has a knack for creating atmosphere with a few sentences. And for someone like myself who appreciates delving into a story without distractions, the pristine grammar and faultless spelling was a godsend. I spent a nice hour or more lost in this story.
5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful story 17 May 2014

Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I won't go into the background info as another reviewer has already done so before me, but I will say that this is a very well written story with a great story line. I have read other works by Robert, and I think this is his best, by far.
