The strap is elasticated, and fastens with velcro, so it's very adjustable. It feels nice and secure and doesn't feel like it's going anywhere. I've found the best position for the strap is just above my ears, as I've a feeling if you tried fastening it over your ears it'd be a bit of an irritation. The front of the mask is lovely and soft, a bit like a little kitten you can't help but want to stroke, except kittens don't usually come in a rather fetching shade of blue. It folds up nice and neatly to store in the little pouch it comes with so you can take it on trips away, along with the earplugs it comes with (can't really comment on those though, as I've not tried them).
I was a little concerned after reading some reviews that the mask wouldn't stand up too well to sleeping on your side, which I do, but I've found it's not a problem.Read more ›
I will offer my responses to the critical reviews.
If you are in a brightly lit room, then maybe a sliver of light is visible near your nose if you look for it. A mask tight enough to stop all light would also stop air circulating and probably cause other problems. In a darkish room with the lights out it gets to near pitch darkness - I use it to remove the little bits of stray light from the door and from small gaps between the curtains and the wall, stopping the street lights from hindering sleep and the dawn light from waking me.
This is not a blackout mask for the daytime, it is a sleeping mask for night-time.
The mask is designed so that there is a big space in front of the eyes for the eyelashes to move. Cheap masks on aeroplanes press against the eye and would keep me awake, but these give space for when your eyelashes move as you sleep.
The mask is also somewhat substantial and padded, this is to give it strength to fit the face well, be light fast and stay away from the eyelashes. As a result I would not choose it for sleeping sideways or face down, this could explain the negative reviews from people who experienced discomfort perhaps?
However the substantial nature makes it perfect for increasing darkness while sleeping on your back - and sleeping on your back is meant to be the healthiest way for back health and to avoid face wrinkles.
The person experiencing puffy eyes may have tried to sleep face down with mask pressed into the face?Read more ›

wonderfully soft but neither a snug fit, nor secure, too padded to sleep in and still not deep enough to stop light invading from the nose/cheek area.Published on 21 May 2014 by C. Smith
