There is very little in this book that most people would find useful. It appears to be aimed at those who have limited ability for independent thought. Whilst comprehensive in it's coverage of the obvious topics, you will find yourself spending lots of time on exercises which are boardering on pointless. The book should be titled 'Your Dream Career For Absolutle Dummies Who Are Unable To Think For Themselves' (if you are such a person then Good Luck!!!!). Finally, whilst the book does point to various trade organisation web-sites to follow-up on ideas, these are all USA based and therefore give very limited benefit for those of us on the 'other side of the pond' in the good ole UK.

5.0 out of 5 stars Most comprehensive book on the subject for adults 14 Feb. 2008
By Capstone Careers - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I've read many books on the subject of changing careers and have found this to be the most comprehensive. It not only includes a thorough self-assessment section, but includes a list of careers with resources for further information. Everything is presented in logical, easy to follow steps and categories. I am teaching career exploration class and will suggest each participant get this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Career Change 19 Sept. 2010
By Laurence M. Bains - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This was an excellent book, probably the best I've read on the subject. Written to be easily interpreted it precisely guides the reader through each process until the dream career(s) is uncovered. I have spoken to the author who is now concentrating her time on green careers and providing personal career counseling as well. This book makes one think and leaves no stone unturned. It confirmed my thoughts on what a dream job would be for me. It encourages one to think out of the box and nothing is off limits however, it also is realistic in addressing the potential pitfalls of certain career decisions. This book approaches the subject in a very analytical and efficient manner without being stuffy or mundane. It is laid out neatly, logically and takes the reader through the entire process in a very orderly manner.

4.0 out of 5 stars Finding your dream career 30 April 2012
By Dianne W - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
While it may not be the ideal time to drop everything to go running after your passion. While it may be an employer's market for hiring - anytime is a good time to determine YOUR dream career. This is especially true if a career change is in your future. Filled with worksheets and great advice, this is THE book to figure out what you want to be when you grow up.
There are sections to explore career directions which provide information on a variety of different career choices. You may not "sizzle with excitement" as the book suggests, but you may find out what will keep you wanting to come back to work.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Superbly Crafted Career Book 5 Jan. 2010
By Vaughan Evans - Published on Amazon.com
This is an exceptionally well structured, lucid and methodical book, guiding the reader from a process of self-discovery and exploration of personal passions right through to practical steps on bringing the dream career to life. It even guides the reader on what career choices may be available to him or her. Carol McClelland is a stimulating, logical and practical authority on career change.

4.0 out of 5 stars useful 3 Sept. 2012
By mrsmullen - Published on Amazon.com

This book contains lots of worksheets. I like how it focuses on the day to day aspects of a career instead of just telling you information about different careers. It helps guide you towards finding something on your own rather than making suggestions. Maybe a good graduation present.
