Product description
The DrayTek Vigor 2760n provides connectivity to your PCs or other Internet-connected devices via it's built-in Gigabit ports. The firewall helps protect your network from external threats, as well as the Vigor 2760n's built-in content filtering which gives you control over what and when your local users can download. The Vigor 2760n supports multiple security methods, including strong encryption but also hardware-specific authorisation and selectable client isolation (from each other). The DrayTek Vigor 2760n is the latest Triple-WAN ADSL2/2+ and Fibre Broadband Router for home or small offices and is compatible with both ADSL and VDSL. The DrayTek Vigor 2760n's USB ports can also be used to add storage memory to the unit in the form of a USB memory key or for higher capacity a USB hard drive. The DrayTek Vigor 2760n then provides FTP access file uploading/downloading which can be from the local LAN or from anywhere on the Internet - ideal for a simple to deploy file depository.

Drayteks routers seemed to me to be among the most secure available. This one has been online now for about 5 days without getting hacked (it's predecessor only managed 20 mins before getting re-hacked!). It handles a VDSL 80/20 link just fine.
It's not quick to configure, I spent several days reading the manual to find out what to do. I also clarified a few things with Draytek Tech Support (they were marvellous). Then I spent about 2 hours configuring the security before putting it online. One reason that it takes more time to configure is that it lets me lock down more things that the other router didn't.
So how do I know that it's more secure (apart from it not getting hacked and the extra security options in the config screens) ? I ran every test that I threw at it's predecessor during my investigations & then some & it passed them all (which its predecessor didn't).
* Click page Wan -> Internet Access
* Select Access Mode "MPoA / Static or Dynamic IP" for WAN1, _not_ "PPPoE / PPPoA!
* Click "Details Page"
* in the _enabled_ "MPoA / Static or Dynamic IP" tab, if you don't have static IP, you must tick "DHCP Client Identifier", and enter the ISP provided Username and Password directly below it.
The various object and group based setup, for Firewall and CSM, are flexible but needlessly labourous, because of the greater use of paged lists of item settings containing limited items, even for CSM, so more of a pain than the long unpaged (sluggish render/save) CSM lists in the 2750.
If you have sysadmin skills you will appreciate the features of this router. If you're just looking for a way to control who can see what on the internet this has the tools.
