But, you still have to do things from time to time that require bending down for a prolonged period of time- like fixing things and gardening. To that end, there is a solution- the Draper 76763 Gardener's Kneeler Seat.
It's really two things in one. You can use it as a seat to sit on and do some things, but if you have to kneel and get closer down, well, just flip it around and kneel of the soft foam. Then, when its time to (try) and get up- the handles on either side let you use your arms to help boost you up- neat!
Definitely consider buying this handy chair/kneeler not only for gardening, but to have around when you have to kneel and fix stuff too. Also recommend Treat Your Own Knee Arthritis for some good exercises to get your knees working better and out of pain.
When used as a kneeler (as opposed to the seat function), one side has nasty edges that dig into your knees very painfully - unless you have remembered to get it the 'right way' round!
When using the handles to arise from the kneeling position, the handle supports warp disconcertingly under pressure, giving the impression that the whole thing might fail at any moment; I wouldn't ever dare to use it as a seat!
This item is inherently hazardous and after using it just twice, I have put it in the bin!
I've only given this one star because the review cannot be accepted without one!
As a seat it is sturdy and supportive with a fairly broad seating area, strong legs with feet large enough to avoid sinking. Because of the broad feet it is pretty stable when in position and you do not have to worry too much about toppling over as with some more narrow seats, that said it is still possible to rock back and forth on in so some gardening tasks can be accomplished from the sitting position.
When used as a kneeler it is not quite so good. It has a foam padded area under the seat for kneeling on and this is effective enough. When using it the legs being broad and wide do sometimes get in the way a bit. It is pity they cannot be folded down or removed in some way without compromising the strength of the unit as a seat. The real problem with it as a kneeler is that it must be used facing the correct way. When used the wrong way the bottom of the integral storage box overlaps the foam padding in such a way as to make kneeling very uncomfortable. When used the right way it is fine. It is quite a large device and is probably a bit too big and bulky to be bought just for use as a kneeler.
It has an integral storage area build into the seat. This not large but enough for sandwiches or a few essential tools. It has a clasp to hold it shut and it can be locked shut with a bolt or padlock of some kind. Useful to keep little hands off your lunch!Read more ›

A bit disappointed with it because although it looks the same as the one I have had for several years it certainly isn't as strong or sturdyPublished 15 days ago by suds
