Sadly it lasted only one day ! On first use, the hose starting creaking and popping and swelling up like a sausage along some of its length.
The inner core must have been compromised such that the water could get in between the inner core and outer yellow sheath causing whole sections to swell up. Although it wasnt leaking (yet), its only a matter of time as the water should be contained within the inner core and not rely on the paper thin outer cover. This clearly is not how it is supposed to be nor fit for purpose so its back to amazon for a refund.
Maybe I just got a bad batch but Im going for the pricier Hozelock Ultimate Hose, 30 m instead as, with hoses, you probably get what you pay for !
The hose is very heavy, so much so that it's unwieldy. It will wind onto a reel, but it's hard work - I have a length that is stored by looping it around the tap and it's a real struggle to coil it. It has an odd construction, there's a narrow bore inner core and a soft outer, note that the he inner bore is not as large as typical hose.
Despite not having been used in anger, mine has developed a pinhole leak and this has led to an odd occurance - the hose was left with the garden tap open and water leaked into the space between the inner and outer layers and swelled the hose to double its size, very odd.
Other reviewers have said this product doesn't kink, mine does it for fun.
My advice is, don't bother if you're doing anything other than using it as a pipeline to extend from a tap.
I hope that this review is helpful.
The length of the hose is great for the price, it comes well packaged and is a fair price compared to other 'top' brands.
Having said that, I honestly can't describe this hose as 'heavy duty' and even though the length of hose I required was much shorter than purchased (I cut it down), it still kinked like a bugger. I guess the way its packaged doesn't help, but I have used mine many times now and it still wants to kink back into the coil of how I received it. I understand of course that this is the best way to ship an item like this.
I have since binned the water butt and now use the external tap (needed more pressure) but the kinking isn't for a-baiting.
Having used the Hozelock brand hose many times for the same purpose, I have to say (in my opinion) the Hozelock is far superior & thus if I was in the market to purchase a hose again I would buy the Hozelock.
For anyone wondering re:pressure, this hose seems to cope well and thus I can say, it is suitable for pressure washer use.
I hope you found my review helpful.
At the beginning of May 2017, while washing my car I noticed that the Draper hose had started to swell in places, so much so that it looked like a giant anaconda that had just swallowed a whole capybara... It then burst.
Hardly bloody heavy duty is it.
