If you read the other books in the series, it's great. If not, you should read the others as they are well written and with a great plot.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the well-read and well-versed in history 3 July 2013
By Linda Turner - Published on Amazon.com

First up - I'm a 57 yr old mom and grandmother who started buying these books from the day "Here There Be Dragons" first hit the shelves. I have read every book in the series and love them all. But there is a caution I'd offer.....while this series is categorized as "Young Adult" and it could be enjoyed by kids and teens, it is really best enjoyed if the reader is very well read and already knows a good bit of literature, history and mythology. The books are populated by a large number of famous authors, famous characters both real and fictional, and figures from mythology. If the reader doesn't know who they all are then he/she will have a difficult time understanding all that is happening. There are so very many references to the authors works, the acts of the characters, the stories in the myths and that would all be lost on someone who hasn't read a great deal, especially of the well-known classics e.g. "Lord of the Rings" "Peter Pan" "Gilgamesh" "Chronicles of Narnia" to name a few. Of course kids will enjoy it just for the dragons, the dragon ships, the time travel, etc. But what a shame not to know "the stories behind the story" as well.
5.0 out of 5 stars Romping through Time 25 Feb. 2013
By Sarah Beach - Published on Amazon.com

The books in James Owen's Imaginarium Geographica series have been building up towards a sweeping finale, and this volume brings together many of the threads. Two teams of our "good guys" are ranging through time and space on important quests for answers on how to defeat the total victory of Shadows. But Owen has built in so many twists, you wonder (in that "what happens next" sense) how it can be resolved. Some twists you can see coming, and then you learn they were just diversions for other twists that have been prepared for since the first book of the series.

The characters are delightful - especially the badger Uncas, as he deals with the Zen Detective. And in the background, my favorite, the dragon Samaranth moves in his mysterious ways.

Owen loves to weave into his work references to mythology, literature, history and splashes of popular culture. Rather than annoy the reader with distractions, they are easy to take into stride, for they sparkle as florishes rather than get in the way as stumbling blocks. If you recognize the references, it's wonderful; if you don't, there's no slowing of pace, and you can look forward to the fun game of hunting down the references later (because you will enjoy the added dimension that knowledge brings).

The story should be accessible to young readers as a fun adventure (they will certainly enjoy the cheeky Uncas), but it is also a pleasure to the more experienced reader.
5.0 out of 5 stars just keeps getting better 9 Oct. 2012

I have been a huge fan of this series from the beginning. James Owen does a masterful job of blending history and fantasy... real life people with well thought out characters. The fast pace and sharp wit of this novel, grabs your attention and won't let go! I can't wait to see what he does to round out this wonderful series.
If you haven't read the Imaginarium Geographica series, you are truly missing out- these books are destined to become classics.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good series, this read is consistent with the others 28 Feb. 2013

I have definitely begun to age out of this series. However, my ability to read faster plus the joys of the Kindle have allowed me to keep these books to serve as 'break books' when I want to get away from heavier reading or when waiting for the next book of some series to come out. I really enjoy the concept and have always found the books in this series to be a fun read.
5.0 out of 5 stars In Love With Confusion 29 Oct. 2012

This book is undoubtedly one of the most confusing things I have ever read. I love it! Owen's use of Jules, Blake, and Burton is fantastic and the revelations about Dr. Raven are a bit startling. Definitely recommended to those who have read the other Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica. To those who haven't, start at the beginning. I promise it's worth it!
