And the Dragon Balls are now called the "Magic Sphears" even though they summon a Dragon and are Balls, and the film is called Dragon Ball Z, so why didn't they put two and two together to make some sense? Plus its meant to be a literal Translation, when there are hundreds of misstranslations and they didn't even cut them down so everyone sounds like they're speaking directly fom a script with nnnnnoooo Commas or Full stops, ever watch those crap '70s Dubs of Anime? Tenshinhan (Tien) sounds like a horrible Gollum impression done by someone who isn't even an actor.
Please, buy the FUNimation dubs, sure they screwed up at first but they made up for it. The only good thing about this is... I think you get stickers with it, or those crappy Tattoos, and the Cover looks pretty good. Infact the only good things about this DVD is that its collectable, though not watchable.
Who ever translated this is one lazy piece of work, even though Goku yells the names of his attacks like KAME-HAME-HA, GENKI-DAMA, KAIO-KEN, all of the Attacks become Kamehameha. When Goku throws that final Genki-Dama/Spirit Bomb, he will yell Kamehameha, and you will get very very very dissapointed, more so that the first milisecond after watching after the opening.
Son Goku may sound more heroic, but a low voice doesn't suit him, his voice should be high like the Japanese original.
Oh, another thing to point out, they may have left the video uncut, and slapped on a terrible dub, but they didn't even bother adding Subtitles Or the Japanese Original.
Its probably worth getting, watching once and then reselling for the more avid Dragonball Fans, but due to its lack of features and the short story it isn't worth keeping in my opinion.
Happy Viewing for those who do purchase the DVD!
1, they're uncut, 2, Original Japanese version and 3! The dubbing in my opinion is actually decent!
More to the point, this movie is a good, its one of my favourite and I actually watched the garlic jr. saga in the tv series before the movie and I was like eh? but watching this movie made a lot of sense after all that, This movie is for the DBZ fans and is one of my favourites, Gohan urinates on krillans head and the fight is good.
If you want the best movies of DBZ you want this one, Return of Cooler, Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan and Rebirth of Fusion (note fusion is not released in English yet!)
The animation is not the most supberb, but this anime is all about action and feeling. It is designed to give battle a unique feel of hardship and intensity, with some peices of it brilliantly coreographed for a cartoon.
All in all, this anime has some minor jokes that can be funny, but this is mainly one for the mindless fanboys and girls who just want all out action mixed with shouting and uber coolness (and btw, there is no chibi in this anime)
