5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Extender! 12 Dec. 2011

Since Apple has taken it upon themselves to stop making things correctly anymore this cable fills the gap perfectly! The new Apple 27" displays are all made with a short cable of about 3ft. to conform to their new direction of your Mac plugging into your monitor and sitting right next to it. That's all great if you have a laptop which these connection are designed for. Well, if you're in an office environment and you use Mac towers that sit below the desk, then you're out of luck in hooking up the monitor unless you put a huge tower on the desktop! If Apple would have just made the cable that comes out of the monitor pluggable and offered it in various lengths then there'd be no problem. The Dr. Bott cable matches color and is sturdy, low profile and does what Apple should have done! Get the Bott Brand because others have the cheaper, bulkier USB connector and stand out more. Also, only the Bott matched the white... don't know why others ship a mostly gray cable?

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, Looks Good! 27 Nov. 2010

I know some people have reported problems with the USB connection for the 3M version of this extension cable, but I have had no issues with this 1M version. Sure, I still wind up having to use a separate power connection to my 17 Macbook Pro, but it sure beats the length of the laptop power cable that comes with the 27 inch Cinema Display. Even though I have Apple Care on the monitor, I like the fact that there is zero pressure on the USB/Display Port connections that comes out of the display thanks to the Dr. Bott extender which protects the end-connections from any kind of stress. The best part is that I was able to feed the apple cables through my Innovative Essentials iLift desktop arm (a great piece of hardware by the way) without having to worry about the cable length that I wind up losing in the process. With the Dr. Bott extension cable attached, those apple cables now reach my laptop with a lot of room to "breathe". This takes any kind of stress away from the cables themselves plus if I ever were to "have an accident", I would much rather break the Dr. Bott USB/Display port connections which connect to the laptop than to break the apple cables themselves (it's much easier to replace a Dr. Bott than to fix an Apple!).

I also really like the look and feel of the Dr. Bott extension which I believe is worth the premium price. Now if only Apple would allow other manufacturers access to the design of the laptop power cable connector, and if Dr. Bott could have designed an extension to that, then this extender would have been spot-on perfect.
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect extension for Mac Pro using LED Cinema display 7 Feb. 2011

The Apple LED Cinema Display 27-Inch MC007LL/A comes with a cable that is too short to reach a Mac Pro (tower) that is on the floor next to a desk. Various reviews have commented on this limitation to an otherwise very good product.

This extension cable addresses that issue perfectly with a clean one-cable solution.

The price seems a bit high for what it is though.

Nice extension cable for video out on Macbook Pro. It really takes the weight off the connection when plugging Mini-display port adapters into it. Love the USB extension too.

I REALLY wish this worked. The Apple Cinema display flashes on and off when using this cord. Do not buy.
