This is a very underated albumn by The Cars. It was not well liked when it first came out and this is probably because it is quite removed from the more popular Heartbeat City albumn. However, Door to Door is still a good albumn. If you enjoyed the Cars other albumns then you'll like this one too. It is very much a mixture, where you have Ta Ta Wayo Wayo and Door to Door sounding very much reminiscent of the earlier albumns, Fine Line and Wound Up on You typical Cars ballads, with the country rock ballad Everything You Say and with the very memorable, likeable tracks Strap Me In and Go Away. All the tracks on the Cars last albumn seems to sum up the whole decade of their music in one albumn. This albumn grows on you the more you listen to it. There is hardly a bad track on the Door to Door albumn. I would recommend Door to Door to anyone who has the other Cars albumns.

I always associated The Cars with the song 'Drive' and Live Aid and overpaid pop stars under the influence asking for our effin' money. I never liked 'Drive' because of that.

Years later, I heard 'You Are The Girl' on the radio, not realising it was The Cars, bought the album and liked it a lot. Melodic, feel-good new wave synth/guitar pop never over-produced or overtly commercial - 'Coming Up You' is a gem as is 'Go Away'. There are also some lovely reflective moments such as 'Fine Line' which reminds me of Lloyd Cole, and 'Wound Up On You'. The heavier title track 'Door to Door' is the weakest track and I never play it.

This is one of those albums I never tire of, and you can always introduce it to your mates as they've probably never heard it before.
