This is first class stuff. If you think the early Christians are out of date, then you need to read this book. The scholarly translations are difficult to get through all right, but Bercot makes it a breeze with his easy-flowing rendition. He pulls these two awesome minds right into the 21st century.
I found I could not not put this book down. The coherence of the arguments is so clear, so easy to understand, and yet so powerful. It makes me want to read what the other early writers have to say, and that's why I've recently bought the complete 10 volumes of the Ante-Nicene Fathers to read of those other men Tertullian, Ignatius, Irenaeus, Clement, Polycarp, Barnabas and others.
If you are new to the writings of the early church or you just want to read some good apologetics, then this is one book you should not miss.
