About the Author
Hilda Kalap is a Devon-based author and Donna and Dermot on the Move is her first published picture book. She has been writing since she was a child inspired by the hedgerows, forests and the natural world on her doorstep. Hilda is a single parent with two children, which keeps her very busy. In her free time she enjoys walking, yoga and meditation, having a massage, and playing the piano, albeit badly.

Ahead of little Ezra's time to sleep I decided to read Donna and Dermot on the move. He has always enjoyed adventure books and those with a story thread. As a parent I always want to educate him on what life is and how to flow with it. Most of all how to cultivate inner wisdom and a daily practice to be able to work through all of lives experiences. No matter how hard.
Not only does the book have a fun, colourful and flowing style it also adds the adventure that is life. Ezra loves to read along and identify the key words as he goes. He is only 2 and a half but can really follow the narrative which can only get even stronger as he grows in age. The message behind the book is pure and told in a way to be relateable to both adults and children alike.
We need to help our children better understand the importance of what thoughts are, what emotions are and how to live in the present.
This book like I am sure many more to come from Hilda are an essential addition to any childs book collection, Wonderful.
Ezra says - "Again, Again, Donna and Dermot'
A very relatable story for many people, it shows why mindfulness is such a valuable concept to grasp and necessary to live a fulfilling and happy life.
This book would be enjoyed by both the reader and listener and I highly recommend it as a fun story with a meaningful, powerful undercurrent message.
A simple and accessible story about mindfulness with illustrations full of tenderness and warmth.
This is a book that will delight and comfort any child and be a great reminder to the adult reading to stay present and enjoy.
