Review

‘Through these beautiful photographs and their accompanying comments, Jacqueline Hassink constructs a subtle picture in terms of the intersection of gender, class, nationality and religion and the significance of public and private roles in shaping her subjects and their positions within the ‘new economy’.  This book is a remarkable achievement and a rich source of ethnographic data about the lives of elite Arab women.’  - Nicola Pratt, "MIDDLE EAST MAGAZINE", March 2009
