Reissue of Current 93's album DOGS BLOOD RISING without the Andrew Liles re-mixes. The album has been stripped back to its original format of five tracks as it was originally released and has been beautifully re-mastered by Denis Blackham. With 12-page colour booklet containing early photographs of the 'group' members--who included David Tibet, Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound), and Steve Ignorant (Crass)--and original insert materials

Then later there is a reciting of Death in June lyrics such as Fields of Rape - father went a reaping and a Dominican choir chanting in the background. The effect is not as rigorous as Nurse in Wound and neither as brutal as Diamanda. These were composed as a series of reflections upon the fragmentation of the mind and some of them work very well and others are too fractured for me personally to connect. I will play this again to see what emerges, that is the beauty of this music, but so far the impact has been alienating rather than connecting.

If you're looking for more of an overall introduction to Current 93 I recommend "Emblems" which gives a very good sampling of their earlier (and in my opinion, much better) work. "Nature Unveiled," "Dawn," and "In Menstrual Night" are all good albums as well. I personally don't recommend anything released after 1993 as much of it is very folky and a bit flat. The Inmost Light trilogy wasn't bad though.
