Review

"No American could be unmoved by the stories and images of these dogs and their handlers...Their journeys, as told in these pages, reinforce our resolve to persevere, rebuild and keep our nation safe and strong." - Rudolph Giuliani, from the Foreword to the Tenth-Anniversary Edition. "If you deem yourself a dog lover, get ready to love them even more. A book full of courage, dedication, hope and faith - not just in mankind, but in mankind's best friend." - Denis Leary, actor; writer; comedian; co-owner of Daphne, Holly, Lulu and Gomer; and founder of the Leary Firefighters Foundation. After watching the documentary of the Dog Heroes on Discovery, I wanted to find out more about the dogs. Although this book will not be for everyone it is a very interesting read, not only describing the dogs and their handlers and what they did but also what happened to them afterwards and how the search and rescue programme is now being developed in USA.

Lovely photos.

A real heartwarming gem of a book recording the actions of unsung heroes at 9/11 and other rescue events. Sadly since 9/11 a number have since died but their actions and achievements will never be forgotten thanks to this publication.

A brilliant book but only if you are a dog lover. It really shows the courage and loyalty of these wonderful dogs and the team work between the dogs, and their owners and trainers. I found it quite emotional to read at times. The pictures are amazing and brought the whole book to life.
