A discussion about the concurrence of Gods Sovereign goodness and the reality of evil in His world.
In this book RC Sproul leads us through some of the philosophical reasonings about the juxtaposition of Gods providential purposes in the creation of His world and of Man as a volitional creature. The question of how we are to understand the concept of evil in a world made by God who is good is given serious consideration.
In this examination the musings of Descartes (for example) and the unfolding biblical accounts of Job and Joseph, drive us to a better understanding of Gods sovereignty in bringing about his will and that He remains sovereign even though He permits evil consequences.
An important subject addressed by a keen mind and with a direct and genuine examination for truth.

This is a very important subject for Christians and Sproul deals with it in very interesting and readable way. It is written from a conservative and reformed position and may not suit the tastes of some readers. But I recommend it strongly, even if some may have a different angle on the subject.

This is a book you must read. If you believe that God is not sovereign in everything, even over the human will, then you definitely must read it. The author writes well in an interesting and factually correct way. He clearly shows, irrefutably, that God does indeed control everything. Absolutely everything!

It is a short book but it reveals the way in which God shows His dealings with mankind and His plans which He put in place before He created the universe. It is book which everyone can benefit from but the only people who can understand it are those whom God gives understanding.

I didn't always understand all the arguments Sproul made, but, with plenty of Scripture, he explains God's sovereignty, his ordination and his creation. Here and there I would have liked him to go a bit deeper, but his Crucial Questions Series may not be the right format for such things. All in all informative, short and entertaining.

A fundamental doctrine on the sovereignty of God explained simply yet so thought provoking without deterring from the scriptures. One definitely to be recommended!

Love it. RC Sproul is a great theologian who brings a clear, understandable and relevant theology from a reformed view point. Great introductory book. Great reading.
