Format: Paperback
After the previous book's slight detour, Justin Richards has The Doctor back on the trail of the insidious Darksmiths and arriving at an underwater research facility on the planet Flydon Maxima. Similar in style and tone to Richards' first book in the series, The Depths of Despair features massive tentacled sea monsters attacking the base and some new villains in the form of the `Dreadbringers', full-helmeted troopers that come across as a kind of cross between The Judoon and the stormtroopers from Star Wars.

Uncomplicated and thoroughly enjoyable, the series continues to impress in much the same way as the new TV show. Roll on part 5.

My middle school nephews love these books, and looks forward to getting mail. Big plus is they are liking to read now and they even pass them to other kids in their school to read. Makes this Auntie proud.
