The Fighting Fantasy books have several different courses through the story with certain key decisions (leading to certain routes, items or information) determining if you get a good ending, or if you fail in your quest. In this book, every single decision you make is irrelevant because you cannot possibly fail. So you're not "adventuring with the Doctor", you're reading one of about 8 very short, very bad stories that rather arbitrarily feature someone that happens to be called the Doctor.
The Fighting Fantasy books tend to offer choices like whether to take certain items, whether to sneak past guards or attack them, whether to lie to someone or tell the truth... This book's choices amount to "Turn left or right" 90% of the time. There are also never more than two choices whereas a FF book might have "enter the room on the left, enter the room on the right, take the item from the pedestal, talk to the guard".
A read through of any given route in a FF book would take a good amount of time, not as long as a novel but certainly longer than a short story. Each route in this book takes about 6 or 7 minutes to get through. You could take any of the longer routes (i.e. the ones where you don't die early in the adventure) from a FF book at it would make a fine story in its own right.Read more ›

but looking for Doctor Who books I found this and I have had a blast reading it to my son. I let him decide what we are doing and I
think we can even read it 4 more times and still come out with a different ending everytime.
