Puzzle crazy

Howling Fun!

The Werewolf features in an episode about strange monks who are hiding a dark secret. The Doctor and Rose, Along with Queen Victoria have to find a way to stop the Werewolf, which is of course, really an alien in disguise. The episode is really scary, but it is one of my favourite episodes and my kids loved it.

The Werewolf toy is a rather handsome chappie, and at about 8 inches tall, he is a fair bit bigger than our other Doctor Who figures, but that doesn't seem to bother the kids. His head is the same as a normal wolf, but his body merges between wolf and human. He has an angry snarl on his face, with ears pinned back, and looks as if he is poised to attack. The makers of the figure have included some good details, including blue veins which run down his legs (talk about problems with thread veins showing!) and his arms.

What I really like about this toy is how poseable it is. This guy has joints everywhere! You can twist his head through 360 degrees, and he has ball joints on his shoulders, which enable you to swivel them all the way around. He has elbow and wrist joints, moveable waist, hip joints, knee and ankle joints, and weirdly, a joint between the knee and ankle, which enables his foot to flip back and touch his knee, I never knew werewolves could do that!

We have had this toy for two or three years, and it is still in the same condition as when we bought it, despite being played with a lot. The toy is very robust, and I am impressed that none of his bits have fallen off, as the joints are durable and strong.

The toy is a scary looking thing, with huge claws and big teeth and I did have doubts as to whether it would be suitable for kids or too scary, but kids absolutely LOVE scary toys, and half the fun with this toy is chasing your little brother and sister around with it making roaring noises! The werewolf gets played with a lot in imaginitive play and storytelling. He would definitely put a new twist on the Little Red Riding Hood story! As he is a good size, he is unlikely to get lost down the back of the setee, as is the way with most action figures.

Although the toy is aimed at boys, girls will like it too, as is the case with my 7 year old daughter, who was playing with this toy in the bath last night! He is the perfect height to accompany Barbie on a date if she gets fed up of Ken! As the toy has no metal parts, he is suitable to play with outdoors or in the bath, as he won't go rusty.

I am glad I ignored my initial doubts about buying this toy, as I think he is absolutely fantastic. He would suit children aged 4 and up, and Adults who enjoy the show, as he would make a great display figure. With the current popularity of vampires and werewolves at the moment, this fellow may find himself very popular indeed.
